I have been a Counsellor / Psychotherapist / Hypnotherapist for over 25years I specialised in the field addiction for many years. Working within addiction offered a wide and varied opportunity to work and become familiar with many client issues. Clients relying upon substances, use as a coping mechanism, however substance use causes further mental health issues which further complicates their ability to cope. I now work solely within private practice based at home where clients can relax in a confidential informal setting. This allows them time explore their own needs in a time frame which meets their own specific needs.

I have great experience in helping individuals explore meaningful ways of living. Connecting to their authentic selves, whilst developing more authentic and meaningful relationships. I help individuals and couples to understand what is at the roots of their conflicts and dissatisfaction. Helping explore anger, rejection, disappointment and betrayal. Hot and cold relationships increase individuals insecurities. I help individuals understand what lies underneath their relationship choices, underneath repeated patterns, their fears of genuine intimacy and the dance of intimacy individuals and couples play out in their relationships.

If you often feel misunderstood, overwhelmed by your emotions, or trapped in patterns you can’t quite explain, you’re not alone. Many of the people I work with appear capable on the outside while carrying shame, self-criticism, and the lasting impact of difficult experiences internally. They want to feel steadier, less reactive, and more in control of their lives. Together, we focus on building emotional resilience, understanding how the past is shaping the present, and creating meaningful change before things reach crisis point.

Alongside my specialist work in anxiety, OCD, and trauma, I have advanced training in Psychosis and Bipolar from Oxford University, allowing me to offer informed, compassionate support to many difficult experiences.
Struggling with persistent worries, overwhelming thoughts, or past experiences that keep resurfacing can make life feel unpredictable and exhausting. Many people feel trapped by patterns that seem impossible to break, leaving them unsure how to move forward or regain a sense of calm. With a background as a Registered Nurse and over 15 years’ experience across NHS services and private practice, I understand how deeply these difficulties affect both mind and body. I am a BABCP-accredited CBT therapist, EMDR practitioner, and the course lead for a postgraduate CBT training programme.

Do you feel stuck in patterns of relating to yourself and others that feel familiar, yet are holding you back? My approach to therapy is grounded in an understanding that current difficulties are often influenced by past experiences, relationships, and patterns that may sit outside of our awareness. I place great importance on the therapeutic relationship as a vehicle for meaningful change - I believe that change can happen when you feel genuinely heard and understood. My work is individually tailored, and I draw flexibly on a range of evidence-based approaches to facilitate meaning making and promote change.

Many of us can be our own harshest critic...never feeling good enough, never feeling as if we are "enough", not wanted or unloveable...these thoughts understandably have a big impact on our wellbeing and day to day functioning. It's not just you that feels this way - many of us struggle with these thoughts and feelings at times, but particularly if we've experienced adversity or trauma, this may have become the "norm" in the way we think about ourselves. But this can change. And when we start to think about ourselves and relate differently to ourselves, the world feels like a much better place!

I work in collaboration with my clients to find what they would like to bring into the therapy room and have a particular interest in personal identities and how my clients wish to be seen and accepted in the world. This includes identities around chronic illness and disability, as well as around gender, sexuality and relationship diversity. I do not work as a blank mirror but instead use my knowledge and training to create a dialogue between me and my clients.

I specialise in working with individuals who have difficulties in managing their emotions and therefore struggle with things like relationships, drinking, substance use, self harming and other impulsive behaviour. You don't need a formal diagnosis to work with me, but I do have a speciality of working with people with personality disorders. I also have lots of experience of working with people who have had traumatic histories and are struggling to manage as a result. This might mean they are depressed, anxious or just finding trusting people hard. As well as these specialities, I also work with all major mental health issues

Psychosis Counsellors
What’s the most effective treatment for psychosis?
The most effective treatment for psychosis is coordinated specialty care. In this model, a team of professionals works with a patient to address all aspects of the underlying disorder. This approach incorporates individual or group therapy, employment and education support, family support and education, medication management (which often involves low doses of antipsychotics), and case management to facilitate problem-solving as needed.

When should people seek treatment for psychosis?
People should seek immediate treatment at the earliest indication of psychosis. Symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized or blocked speech, and agitated body movements. Early signs that a person may be developing a disorder that will lead to psychosis include suspiciousness of others, memory problems and distractibility, an inability to think clearly, rapid or nonsensical speech, withdrawal from friends or family, aggression toward others, and sensitivity to bright lights or noises.

What if psychosis is left untreated?
Without treatment, psychosis can have significant repercussions, including injuries, job loss, homelessness, financial or legal trouble, ruptured relationships, and suffering for the person and their family. While early treatment for psychosis often yields the best results, there is no point past which it becomes useless to seek treatment. At any point, treatment can make a difference.

How do I get someone else to seek treatment for psychosis?
It’s extremely difficult to watch a loved one suffer from hallucinations, delusions, and other elements of psychosis—sometimes exacerbated by their fears of treatment. Have a conversation with them in a quiet space and maintain a calm, supportive tone. Share your concerns about behaviors you’ve observed, suggest treatment, and explain the potential benefits. Listen carefully to their responses. The person may not be ready after one conversation, but with time, they may come around.
