I am also trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) both of which are evidence based psychological approaches to treat a wide range of emotional, behavioural and psychological difficulties including anxiety, depression, complex trauma, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), adjustment difficulties, self esteem etc.
I also work with couples. I work collaboratively with my client to understand how their psychological difficulties first developed and what are the factors that are maintaining them and ways in which we can overcome them to bring about positive change and alleviate their distress. I offer bespoke interventions which match a client's individual problems.

You replay conversations, worry you’ve missed something, or find yourself becoming detached from work you once loved.
The pressure of constant demands, or the weight of expectations that leave little room to look after yourself. On the outside, you’re coping. Inside, you’re wondering how much longer you can keep doing this. You’ve forgotten about the things that made you feel like you. You tell yourself your own needs aren't important, they can wait. Right?

I support adults experiencing anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties, and life transitions.
Many people come to therapy during times of change or emotional uncertainty—relationship difficulties, loss or bereavement, career transitions, or questions around identity. These experiences can feel heavy, especially when you’ve been carrying them alone. Before becoming a counsellor, I worked as a mental health nurse in Hong Kong, supporting people through complex emotional challenges. I offer therapy in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, and I’m mindful of cultural and family dynamics. I provide a neutral, compassionate space to help you gain clarity, feel supported, and reconnect with your inner strengths.

I try to help my patients overcome their ongoing reactions to this trauma, such as nightmares, flashbacks, intrusive memories, high levels of anxiety and poor sleep.
At the core of my work is a person centred philosophy. I see every patient as different and individual which is why I tailor my approach to each person. I don’t necessarily agree with prescribing a method to a diagnosis or problem as I’ve found this is not always helpful. However I am qualified to deliver EMDR and NET, both evidence based trauma therapies.

I offer DBT-informed, trauma-aware therapy for adults experiencing emotional distress, anxiety, shame, and self-critical thoughts.
If you often feel misunderstood, overwhelmed by your emotions, or trapped in patterns you can’t quite explain, you’re not alone. Many of the people I work with appear capable on the outside while carrying shame, self-criticism, and the lasting impact of difficult experiences internally. They want to feel steadier, less reactive, and more in control of their lives. Together, we focus on building emotional resilience, understanding how the past is shaping the present, and creating meaningful change before things reach crisis point.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
