I offer neuropsychological assessment of autism, ADHD and learning differences (learning difficulties such as dylexia and dyscalculia and learning disability).
I’m Dr Laura Surley - Clinical Psychologist and founder of NeuroNest Psychology.
I have worked in NHS psychology services for 16 years and in private practice for 4 years. My passion is working with people who have brains that work differently, also known as neurodivergence. I have chosen to specialise in working with people of all ages to better understand how their brains work. I want to support people to explore their neurodivergence through specialist neuropsychological assessment, and to help people, and those around them, to understand how their unique profile of strengths and difficulties translates into everyday life.

As well as my accredited Level 6 Diploma, my additional training includes: Gender Sexuality and Relationship Diversity (GSRD) Therapy, C-PTSD and Autism, and ADHD.

I can offer a supportive safe space, free of judgement, to explore your experiences and next steps. I believe there’s no "one size fits all" way of doing therapy, so I take an integrative approach to tailor our sessions to you. This could mean person-centered counselling, relational therapy, coaching strategies, or creative methods to best support your personal growth, and therapy goals.

Hi, I'm Stephanie, and I'd like to help you experience a more fulfilling life. At the moment, there is so much emphasis and pressure on people to achieve and be productive every day, to strive towards visible high standards constantly, to the point of exhaustion. Are you highly critical of yourself? Do you find yourself unable to try new things in case you fail? Do you focus on ways to improve things about yourself that other people can see & validate - your appearance, your body shape, your job, studies and even hobbies? Do you find yourself unable to switch off and relax? Expect things of yourself that you never would of others?

I have particular expertise in working with Neurodivergent clients, including those with ADHD and Autism.
In my work, integrating the body into therapy is essential, as emotional stress and trauma are often stored physically, leading to symptoms and illness over time. I welcome clients who are interested in using movement, breathwork, and exercise as powerful tools to support their mental well-being and overall health.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.
How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioural therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.
How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
