You're under pressure to 'hold it all together', but underneath there may be anxiety, low mood, or strain in your relationships. Caught between external achievements and what you're experiencing internally, things may look successful on paper, but inside there may be exhaustion, self-doubt, or a loss of meaning. Constant pressure, high standards, or a particular challenge at work or in your personal life may have become overwhelming. You might feel you should be coping better or managing this without help. What you're looking for is space to talk, understand what's happening, and find a more sustainable path forward.

I also work with clients navigating major life transitions like career changes, relocation, divorce, or becoming a parent.
I specialise in working with men. Many of the men I support come to therapy feeling stuck, under pressure, or unsure how to talk about what’s going on. You may be dealing with stress, low mood, relationship difficulties, anger, or a sense that something isn’t quite right—but finding it hard to put into words. My practice offers a space where men can speak openly, without judgement . Whether you’re navigating work pressures, family responsibilities, identity questions, or personal challenges, I aim to help you make sense of your experience and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

I am a qualified Counsellor with a private Practice in central Newbury. I support clients with a wide range of life’s challenges. You may be experiencing a heightened sense of anxiety, self-doubt, or low self-esteem following unexpected or unwelcome change — perhaps a new work situation, the breakdown of a long-term relationship, or the loss of someone close to you. You might be feeling overwhelmed by increasing demands on your time, or as though your needs are not being heard. These experiences can trigger unhelpful thought patterns, often rooted in earlier life experiences, leaving everything feeling heavy and difficult to manage

You may be suffering with feelings of stress, anxiety, or depression; or emotions which gush out disproportionately to what seems to have triggered them; struggling in relationships which cause you distress; or recent events may have brought to the surface painful feelings which seem hard to manage or which feel confusing. Whatever is troubling you, I offer a safe space to explore and work through it together. For me psychotherapy is not only for those with a diagnosable psychological issue, or for someone who can be labelled as having something 'wrong' with them, it can benefit anyone who wants to get more out of life.

I work with adults who often appear to be managing well on the outside, but internally feel stuck, anxious, or emotionally overwhelmed in ways that do not shift easily. Many people come to me when they notice long-standing patterns such as anxiety, overthinking, emotional disconnection, difficulties in relationships, or burnout despite functioning in daily life. Often there is a sense of understanding themselves intellectually but still not experiencing lasting emotional change. Together we work with these patterns as they emerge, helping to bring clarity and support deeper and more lasting change.

You might be the one who holds everything together. You function well, meet expectations, and keep going even when you’re exhausted. Inside, your mind rarely rests. You overthink, feel tense, and carry a quiet fear of letting people down. Many women I work with don’t feel “unwell” but they feel constantly on edge, disconnected, or emotionally tired. Therapy with me is a space where you don’t need to perform, explain yourself, or stay strong. You get to slow down and be met as you are.

Divorce Counsellors
How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?
Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?
There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioural, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioural therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?
When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
