Hello. I am a qualified EMDR & BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. CBT helps us to understand the relationships between our feelings, thoughts, behaviours and environment, and the ways in which these can become problematic. With an understanding of how mental health difficulties develop and are maintained I use an evidence-based (NICE guidelines) and goal-orientated approach to help support change. The emphasis is on finding solutions that work for the individual, so that you can improve emotional health & become your own therapist by applying new skills and techniques to old patterns of thinking and behaving.

Hi, I'm Nate, a senior clinical psychologist & EMDR therapist. I am here to help professionals who support the health & wellbeing of others (e.g., health & social care, charity, & emergency response). I know that a career supporting others is rewarding & satisfying, bringing with it a sense of purpose, achievement & competence, & opportunities to show care, compassion & make a difference to the lives of others. I also know that this work is challenging: excessive demands, witnessing trauma, limiting resources & greater client complexity in response to a more unequal society. Our health and wellbeing can suffer and deteriorate.

Therapies I integrate include Humanistic Person-Centred, EMDR , mindfulness with anger management as a specialism.
Working on-line, I provide a warm, accepting environment. An authentic, confidential and secure atmosphere for therapy allows the opportunity to explore, understand and work towards your therapeutic goals, with the passion and humour I bring. Dealing with the "difficult stuff" is something we are all capable of avoiding. It needs to feel safe enough to talk about what can feel most vulnerable and hardest to put into words. My role is to create the atmosphere where there's trust in; not being judged, found too much or not enough, being heard and valued. Email is the best way to contact me, I look forward to hearing from you

My practice is shaped by Art Therapy and trauma processing therapy EMDR (www.
We all need support and company, and when life feels like a struggle we it more than ever. When our bodies weigh us down with depression - When our chests fill with the buzzing cloud of anxiety - When thoughts and feelings from the past bursts into our present - We want relationships that are defined, not by the past, by our values and dreams - We want to rediscover ourselves and like who we meet.

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimising its ability to trigger anxiety.
