Empowering Minds
Counsellor, MNCPS Acc.
I work with individuals who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or lost in the face of life’s challenges. My clients often struggle with anxiety, stress, or navigating difficult transitions, such as relationship issues or career changes. They seek a safe, non-judgmental space to express their emotions, gain clarity, and develop a deeper understanding of themselves. More than anything, they want relief from their emotional burdens and are eager to find practical ways to feel more in control and at peace.

Past traumas haunts us, while the unpredictable future worries us - living in the present becomes increasingly more difficult. The constant that we can rely on is change. My aim is to help you take control of the change that you want to make, to claim the life you want for yourself, to find your meaning in your life, and live it as fully as possible. Many of the people I work with have spent years trying to understand why they continue to feel unsafe, fragmented, disconnected or stuck despite previous work and interventions. I aim to meet you exactly where you are at and together we can take the steps towards your goals and needs.

I work gently and compassionately, with individuals/couples, struggling with difficult or painful feelings, managing their emotions, and struggling to enjoy life. Communication is often an issue, as are feelings of unfairness or difficulty forming good, lasting relationships. Issues may involve partners, parents, past traumas, or inner conflict making decisions difficult. They may involve issues at work with colleagues, management or relationships. When working with couples the issues are often about unfulfilled expectations, infidelity, lack of commitment/affection, insecurity, lack of empathy, or experiences of coercion or control

I work mostly with anger, trauma and anxiety; my aim is to help you to find solid coping strategies and to understand what is going on for you, as well as to look at the things that have led you to where you are today.
I have experience working with clients with a wide variety of issues, such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, bereavement, self-harm, relationship issues, domestic abuse, weight loss, chronic pain, and PTSD. Some clients have a good understanding of their issues and what they want to achieve, whereas others are not so sure and want help to find these things out. Whilst some issues are fairly clear cut, others can be more complex and have been present for a long time. Regardless of this, all of my clients have wanted to make changes that will improve their situation and help them to enjoy life.

Many of my clients present to me with anxiety, low-confidence or specific mental health issues. Goals are often to feel happier, cope better at work or in relationships. Steps to achieving this tend to centre around better understanding of self and identifying what barriers we have constructed that keep us stuck. Instead of seeing an insurmountable wall, in many cases there's an opportunity for growth. My job is to help you figure out how to take your first steps and overcome fear and negativity. Often, the very first is asking for help.

Traditional talk therapy has its limits. As a Dramatherapist, I offer a creative, embodied path to healing. This allows us to explore deep-seated issues like self-harm, depression, and complex PTSD in a way that feels safe, controlled, and profoundly transformative.

Anger Management Counsellors
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
