Sometimes for something very specific like anxiety, family issues or trauma -or sometimes just because they feel “off” or lost.
I offer a trauma-informed approach, recognising how early experiences and trauma shape the way we respond to life, relationships, and challenges. My work is rooted in a person-centred approach, supported by Existential ideas about how we navigate life’s big questions and Transactional Analysis to understand the patterns of behaviour we carry from the past.

Whether you are adjusting to a big change in your life (such as a divorce, the birth of a baby, a new job), experiencing difficulties in your relationships, struggling to cope after losing someone close, experiencing a mood or anxiety disorder, or wanting time for self-exploration, therapy can help to make space to to think about and manage your challenges.
We can all benefit from creating spaces of reflection and connection in our lives. Psychotherapy can be useful not only in helping people in severe psychological distress, but also in facilitating self-discovery, insight and growth, particularly during times of difficulty, change and transition. Greater curiosity about one’s self and increased self-awareness can help to bring recognition to, and shift, unhelpful patterns of behaviour. This insight can also increase the capacity to cope with challenging situations; contribute to building more meaningful relationships; & create space for a rich, meaningful and balanced life.

Life can be hard at times, and you may find yourself struggling with painful emotions, anxiety, or a difficult relationship with yourself.
I aim to offer a space where you feel heard and understood, without judgement or pressure to be any particular way. From there, we can begin to notice patterns in your emotions and relationships, helping new understanding and more supportive ways of relating to yourself gradually take shape.

I have worked with a wide range of issues including, depression, anxiety, stress, low-self esteem, trauma, relationship issues, abuse, addictions to name just a few.
I believe the most important thing is to build a good relationship between counsellor and client, a relationship where you can feel secure, accepted, and heard. Through this relationship, awareness of how we feel can be found and with that a healthier way of managing our behaviours can be achieved.

In our work I will invite you to be curious, to allow deeper feelings to surface and to explore them with me as a reliable, resilient companion. I believe that togerther, allowing our creativity and imagination free rein, we can find a place of calm in the turbulence. A place where you can come to accept things you cannot change, have compassion for your most vulnerable self and hopeful growth towards your true whole self. I work in an integrative style, which means I can draw on different approaches within psychotherapy to build a working alliance personalised to you while also drawing on my own inner responses and felt sense.

Not as sure of yourself as you used to be, not feeling good about how your life or relationships have turned out, yearning for something but not sure what that is or just recognising that you no longer want to put up with the feelings, thoughts or that way your body feels. These kinds of experiences are a part what it is to be human and when we're ready to change, it's good to have help. With me its a collaborative effort in which I learn about you and you find out more about yourself; what you want, what's blocking that and how you might resolve those blocks, make changes and realise more of your potential.

Either way, you can be supported to navigate successfully through the very choppy waters of crisis - or the fog of confusion or uncertainty. You don't have to go it alone! You may well emerge from the other side a stronger and happier person - or couple - than you ever thought possible.

It is often the things that you worry make the least sense that are the most illuminating in this work.
I am a psychoanalyst in training and an accredited counsellor.
I offer a safe space in which you can speak and be listened to without judgement or expectation. I encourage you to speak about whatever comes to mind and to follow your thoughts wherever they lead. You may have a diagnosis or have your own words for how you are suffering - that's often the place to start. What we may find is that issues of identity and relationships follow - how you see yourself in relation to those around you now or in the past and possibly how you would like relationships to change in the future.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
