Are you finding that past experiences still affect how you feel, react or relate to others, even when you understand logically that you want to move forward? trauma, anxiety, low self-esteem and difficult relationship patterns can leave you feeling caught in responses that are hard to change. EMDR is a central part of my work, helping process experiences that still feel emotionally present. I also integrate CBT, IFS and other therapeutic approaches, depending on what you need. These can be used alongside EMDR or as therapies in their own right, giving us flexibility to work at your pace and focus on meaningful, lasting change.

Do you find yourself living mostly in your head — coping, pushing through, and holding everything together — while your body carries the stress, tension, or unspoken emotions? You may be experiencing anxiety, overwhelm, grief, or feel disconnected from yourself and others, or stuck in patterns like people-pleasing and self-doubt. You could be navigating life transitions, or searching for meaning, direction and more joy. Many people come to therapy carrying past experiences, feeling stuck in emotional loops, as emotions are not only held in thoughts but also in the body as tension, numbness, or a sense of being on edge.

We all have moments in which we feel vulnerable in the stressful world of nowadays. Life is challenging and most of us has experienced how it can become overwhelming. There are moments in life when we may look at our problems as without solutions and asking for help as meaningless. And so we keep going along with things as they are. Throughout psychotherapy, you will have the opportunity to raise issues that are currently on your mind and to acquire awareness and self-confidence, allowing healthier and happier ways of living.

I can offer support with anxiety disorders, depression, family, stress, OCD, anger, loss & bereavement.
Are you faced with difficulties, feeling angry, sad or anxious? I understand the reason you are seeking counselling may not be in relation to any specific issue. For example, you may want a safe and confidential space to explore your feelings or seek to grow as a person. It is my wish that our sessions together can help you to understand yourself better and provide greater insight and awareness of your presenting issues or life experience. My integrative training allows me to be flexible and adaptable with my approach, as I feel that therapy is not a one size fits all endeavour.

Others welcome the opportunity to look back to earlier times and understand where emotions like anger, sadness and self-doubt first came from.
I was a medical consultant in the NHS for many years, which gave me broad experience in helping people through difficult times, and supporting both physical and mental health. More recently I changed to counselling and psychotherapy and completed an MSc, as well as specialist training in helping people re-evaluate their lives and overcome feelings of despair

Quite often we have no adequate words to name how we feel, and we may get lost in familiar but unhelpful or hurtful patterns of relationships and behaviours. I offer people who are hurt, worried or isolated with their thoughts to jointly explore ways how to change these patterns.

I work with adults of all ages and genders who feel stuck despite years of self-help or therapy. Many appear successful on the outside while privately struggling with the lasting effects of childhood trauma, complex PTSD (CPTSD), anxiety, low self-worth, people-pleasing, perfectionism, burnout, or relationship difficulties. Together, we explore not just what is happening, but why. By understanding the survival patterns behind these struggles, clients gain clarity, heal emotional wounds, and create lasting change.

Anger Management Counsellors
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
