Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Counselling in Milton Keynes
My specialty include depression, OCD, social anxiety, health anxiety, and PTSD.
Do thoughts like “Am I good enough?” or “I can’t do this” follow you wherever you go? Are painful past experiences or constant worries about things going wrong keeping you awake at night?
If so, you're not alone. I help people understand what may be keeping these difficulties going and equip them with evidence-based skills and strategies to break free from unhelpful patterns.
Life can feel overwhelming at times, but it also offers an opportunity for growth and change. Together, we'll work towards letting go of what no longer serves you, building resilience, and creating a life that feels more manageable and meaningful.

My therapy approach has been particularly effective with clients with low-self esteem, depression, worry, OCD, trauma experiences and social anxiety.
Experience as a Registered Mental Health Nurse, has complimented my delivery of CBT as this allows my therapy approach to recognise the importance addressing all aspects of health: sleep, exercise and nutrition - all playing a role in the individual’s wellbeing. I am also trained in EMDR to treat PTSD and other trauma related problems.

I have worked with children and young people who present with a range of issues, specialising on all types of anxieties, OCD, phobias, trauma and depression.
Being worried and anxious can effect our whole lives. It may mean that we start to complete rituals to combat this anxiousness or it may mean that we avoid things (e.g. going to school) and stop doing things we previously enjoyed (e.g. social activities like clubs or hobbies). Similarly, if we feel low it might be difficult to get out of bed or be active. We might feel different to others, like we don’t fit in or we are not good enough. We may also be experiencing urges to self-harm or be having suicidal thoughts. Together, we can explore these thoughts and outline a plan to help you to feel better.

You might feel like you’ve spent years trying to cope — pushing through, masking, or holding everything together — but inside you feel overwhelmed, anxious, or exhausted.
I work with people who have experienced trauma, including sexual or domestic abuse, and those who feel misunderstood or out of place, particularly neurodivergent clients (ADHD/autism). Many of the people I support have spent a long time feeling like they don’t quite fit, or struggling to make sense of their experiences.

My work focuses on understanding patterns shaped by anxiety, trauma, guilt, OCD, or over-responsibility, and gently supporting change at a pace that feels emotionally safe.
You may appear capable and high-functioning, yet feel anxious, overwhelmed, or emotionally burdened inside. Perhaps you overthink, carry a lot of responsibility, or struggle to rest without guilt. You might understand your patterns intellectually but still feel stuck emotionally. Many of my clients have spent years coping quietly, being the “strong one,” the “good one,” or the one who holds everything together, and are now seeking space to slow down, feel safer internally, and reconnect with who they are beyond survival.

I am a deputy lead clinical psychologist in an NHS secondary care team, and I currently work part-time in private practice. Each day, I help people manage stressful life events and confront various psychological issues, such as anxiety, PTSD, low mood, loneliness, self-esteem, and coping with pressure. I can help you develop a deep understanding of your psychological problems and convert insight into change. I believe that our thoughts influence our feelings, which in turn affect our actions. Sometimes, we must reflect on why we keep falling into the same patterns to move forward in life. Seeking help for emotional problems is wise.

Going to therapy (sometimes known as counselling or psychotherapy) can often feel like a daunting task and finding the courage to take those initial steps can be difficult. You may already feel overwhelmed whilst searching for a therapist and have many questions, such as what do the different approaches and qualifications mean, who is experienced enough and who could help me the best? Regardless of which approach is used, one thing we do know is that the most important factor in creating positive client outcomes is the quality of the relationship between the therapist and client.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Counsellors
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.
What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.
Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, and sertraline, among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.
Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
