Our experiences shape how we see ourselves and the world we live in. Key transitions, changes and losses may bring challenges that can prompt us to examine ourselves, what makes us happy and what we want in life. You may be experiencing stress at work, tensions in relationships or struggling with anxiety, low self-worth or depression, perhaps feeling stuck and unsure how to move forwards. This can be difficult to navigate alone.
I offer a non-judgemental, curious, and supportive space to explore your experiences at your pace and together we can find ways to move towards a healing and happier state of being.

Life can sometimes throw unexpected challenges our way, leaving us feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of how to move forward. This might be due to anxiety, health concerns, bereavement, or difficulties at work. At times like these, having a space to talk openly and be truly heard can make a real difference.

Do you find yourself constantly putting everyone else first, and resenting it inside?
Struggling with a phobia that's taking over your life?
Exhausted by complicated family dynamics, or confidence that keeps letting you down?
I work with people who feel like that. I help them to figure out what's going on for them, to feel more grounded, less stuck, and to feel more like themselves again (after we've figured out who that is, sometimes!)
I aim to be warm as well as direct. I won't just let you talk endlessly - I'll challenge you. In turn, you can say whatever you need to, however you need to. I'm here for it.

I think sometimes we just reach that place in life when we say 'enough is enough'. For some it can mean it is time to stop and face something, and to someone else it can mean it is maybe time to 'let it go'. There's no end to the potential meanings for reaching 'that point'. i think we've all been there at some stage or another. Does this sound familiar ? That's okay, i totally understand where you're coming from. What is important is acknowledging that you have had the energy and motivation to seek someone to support you through this - it takes courage and strength to take this step. Well done!

I bring both lived experience and professional expertise to working with addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship struggles.
What truly sets me apart is that I’ve been on both sides of the therapy couch. I know what it’s like to wake up with a racing mind, overwhelmed by the thought of facing the day. I know the loneliness of feeling invisible even when surrounded by people. I know the weight of intrusive thoughts and the relentless exhaustion of carrying childhood wounds into adult life. I’ve experienced intensive therapy for anxiety and trauma, and I’ve come through it. This means that when I sit with you, I’m not just relying on textbooks or clinical theory. I meet you with real understanding and absolutely no judgment. I get it, because I’ve lived it!

Newid pronounced "Nowed" is Welsh for change. I chose this name not only to reflect my heritage but also to reflect that change is the only constant in life. I offer an integrative approach where we work side-by-side to understand your past and help you discover new ways of coping and moving forward. I recognise that courage is not fearless and making the 1st step can be challenging in it's self.

Life can feel heavy sometimes, and it’s not always easy to carry everything on your own. Counselling gives you a safe and gentle space where you can let some of that weight down. This is your time — a place where you can talk openly, be truly heard, and know that you won’t be judged.
I believe each of us is unique. We all experience challenges differently, and there isn’t one “right way” to cope. That’s why I don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach — I work with you, at your pace, in a way that feels supportive and comfortable for you.

Are you fed up of feeling fed up? Stuck in cycles you don’t fully understand but can’t seem to change? Often, that’s a powerful starting point for meaningful change. Together, we can gently explore the roots of these patterns, making sense of how they began and how they continue, so you can respond with greater awareness and choice. I offer a steady, down-to-earth space where you can say what’s really going on. I’ll listen and I’ll hopefully help you look at things from a different angle so change becomes possible.

At this point in your life when you are looking for therapy, you may have a hunch that the burden you carry has grown too much to hold on your own and somebody needs to hear you out. Many conversations heal, but the difference between a psychologist and a friend is that looking at things with the tools and theories we have at our disposal can help you define the problem, perhaps reframe it and then resolve it. That is the starting point for feeling better. You may wonder whether anything can really help, because everything may seem complicated and deep, but the wonder of your own self is waiting for you to unfold.

Congratulations on taking the first step towards dealing with yours or a loved ones addiction.
I use a combination of skill sets to aid in full recovery from addiction and codependency. Combining mindfulness with traditional talking therapies helps us to be able to learn to sit with the discomfort of withdrawal and change. Addiction is always about reaching towards something to take away discomfort. Recovery is about learning new ways to self soothe.

Addiction Counsellors
What is the best therapy for addiction?
Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.
How long does therapy for addiction take?
There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.
How effective is drug addiction treatment?
Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.
How can you get addiction treatment for someone?
The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason,“interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
