You might be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself. Many of my clients are navigating anxiety, burnout, trauma, or low self-worth. Some are experiencing hormonal changes such as perimenopause, while others are exploring late-diagnosed neurodivergence. You may want to feel calmer, more confident, or more at peace in your relationships. I offer warm, trauma-informed counselling for adults in Banbury and online across the UK. My approach is neuro-affirming, person-centred, and collaborative, offering a safe, supportive space to explore challenges, build resilience, and reconnect with who you are.

I am a neurodivergent counsellor ( AuDHD) who takes a neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed approach to my counselling practice.
If you’re feeling sad, depressed, anxious, or stressed, please know that you’re not alone. Many of us have moments when it feels like something is wrong, but we might not be able to pinpoint what it is. Perhaps you find yourself overthinking, feeling more tearful or angry than usual, or struggling to sleep because your mind won’t quiet down. Or something may have happened to you, like a relationship breakdown or loss of some kind.

It may be that you have lost your spark, you might be feeling lost, lonely or stuck, wondering where you fit in. It could be that you are struggling with anxiety, low self-worth or depression. Or perhaps you are neuro-divergent and learning more of what this means for you. Many people come to therapy with life's big questions: How can I develop self-esteem and purpose in this uncertain world? Is it possible to move on from painful past experiences? How can I find lasting and satisfying relationships? Who am I really and who do I want to become? Together we can find a collaborative, creative way forward.

I appreciate that people might be coming to therapy with different preconceptions, goals, past experiences, and/or worries. As starting therapy takes a lot of courage, it is important we go at your pace. As such, our first session together will focus on: Getting to know each other to make sure I am the right fit for you, and exploring the difficulties you would like support with. We might also start to develop your goals and think about the type of therapy best suited to meet these. covering other important aspects such as confidentiality, session length, and timings so we know what to expect from each other.

You might seem like you’re holding it all together, but inside it feels like something is missing. Maybe you’re exhausted from trying to be everything to everyone, or feel disconnected from who you really are. You may be carrying trauma or stuck in patterns that no longer serve you. I offer a space where you can soften, feel met, and begin to listen to what’s really going on inside. This is a space for the parts of you that long to be heard.

The clients I normally see are the people that the usual templates don't often work for, I like working with people to focus on them as an individual and will never want people to think that their problems don't fit the "right model". I will use all of my knowledge, skills and attitudes to tailor treatment to meet your goals and needs. Sometimes people know something is "wrong" or find certain things challenging but may not be sure why, I look to work with people to explore this and find a helpful way of moving forward.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioural therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
