In Person Counselling in Melksham

Welcome, I’m Eilidh. I am a Humanistic and Integrative Counsellor, offering counselling to both adults and children. Life is rarely travelled without experiencing a period of difficulty. These can be as short as a day, or sometimes for what seems like forever. The impact and cause can be obvious and in-the-present, or sometimes less so, perhaps from your distant past. No matter the cause, you may be left depressed, anxious, or consumed by negative thoughts. The onset of feeling stuck and alone, not knowing what to do, often accompanies these emotions.

Winston Churchill said, “A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” Do you want to be more optimistic about the future? Are you looking for help to see your opportunities? Maybe you need a co-author to rewrite your story? If so, I would like to be the one to explore with you, to guide you beyond your problems, and find solutions. I pride myself on the relationships I build with my clients, perhaps due to my enthusiasm, positivity, and the belief that often laughter is the best medicine. I work outdoors, using Walk and Talk Therapy or from my counselling room.

I'm happy to work in person and online with adults of all ages and histories.
Core Process psychotherapy is the original mindfulness based psychotherapy training in the UK. It brings together Western developmental psychology and neuroscience with Buddhist psychology and mindful awareness practice. It's also a trauma-informed practice, informed by Peter Levine's somatic work and Stephen Porges' Polyvagal Theory.

I offer in person sessions from my therapy room in Bradford-on-Avon and currently have some availability on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
My approach centres on understanding you as an individual and seeking to build a relationship of trust with you over time. We’ll work at your pace, and with what you want to address. It depends on you but our work together might include: looking at current issues in your life from an alternative perspective; noticing how how patterns learnt in early life might be affecting you now; connecting into feelings that perhaps you have been avoiding; expressing thoughts or emotions you haven’t been able to share and facing issues from your past that have felt too tough to confront previously when, and if, it feels right.

I will help you to get a better handle on what is happening for you. In these situations, it's normal to feel anxious, depressed or stuck, finding ourselves getting upset over the little things, questioning our worth or wondering who we really are. I can help you to explore your troubles, find your true self, reflect on your choices and move confidently towards a healing outcome.

I offer therapy in person, from a light and airy, yet cosy and inviting room.
Our true nature is free, flowing, wild and energetic. Childhood traumas create defences, because our survival instinct was so strong it protected us at all costs. The cost is our experience now, disconnection from our-self, our body, others, life. Resulting in difficult relationships, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression and self harming behaviors. The decision to come to therapy is a brave one, it is a statement to yourself and the Universe that you no longer want to just survive, but to live with more ease, connection and aliveness. The therapeutic relationship encourages this life force energy, giving space for wholeness to grow.

Do you feel constantly on edge, anxious, burnt out or disconnected? Life can be hard, and the body remembers past pain and traumas that you may be trying to avoid. Perhaps you keep yourself busy and distracted or focus all your energy on helping other people but you've got to the stage when you're not sure who you are anymore and just want to feel better than this? Whilst talking therapy can be a powerful and transformative way to understand your thoughts and emotions, it isn’t always enough to heal what is stored in your body, but embodied therapy can help.
