You might look like you’re coping—but inside, it feels different. You may overthink conversations, feel anxious without knowing why, or find yourself people-pleasing and struggling to say no. Sometimes something small shifts—and suddenly your body is flooded with urgency or emotion that feels hard to control. You might react more strongly than you’d like in relationships, then question yourself afterwards. This may connect to earlier experiences or trauma that still affects you now. And underneath it all, there may be a quieter, persistent question: Am I really good enough?

Life has a habit of bringing dilemmas, difficulties, and struggles into our path. It is just human to respond with hurt, shame, anxiety, or by feeling lost, stuck, and depressed. Psychotherapy can help you make sense of them and move forward. Whatever brings you to therapy, I aim to create a space where you can feel safe, understood, and listened to, a space where you can be fully yourself, with no need to perform or explain yourself. The ultimate goal is to help you create a more meaningful life and explore new ways of approaching your relationships with yourself, others, and the world.

As a play therapist with a background in teaching and a Master’s degree in Play Therapy, I am deeply committed to supporting the emotional wellbeing of children and young people through therapeutic play and creative expression. I believe in the transformative power of play as a natural, intuitive medium through which children can safely explore and express their inner worlds, particularly those who have experienced trauma or adversity. Throughout my career, I have worked extensively with neurodivergent children and young people, many of whom face challenges in traditional school settings.

I work with people who may feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained or disconnected from themselves. You might be neurodivergent and tired of masking, navigating ADHD, or living with chronic illness and its impact on identity and energy. I also support those exploring racial identity, including mixed-race experiences, or moving through life transitions, relationship difficulties, or unresolved past experiences. Together, we work gently at your pace to make sense of what you’re feeling and find a way forward that feels right for you.

Hello I'm Clara and thank you for visiting my page. Talking to someone about issues you may be facing can often be difficult, so well done for making that first step. Searching for a counsellor can also prove difficult and it is important to find the right one for you. I believe the most important aspect of therapy is the relationship between you and your counsellor. There are many approaches to counselling and as an Integrative Counsellor I work with several theoretical approaches such as Person Centred, Gestalt, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Transactional Analysis. I also offer creative ways of working.

Currently Accepting New Clients. Not everything that brings someone to therapy arrives with a clear name. Sometimes it’s a loss or a turning point; sometimes it’s quieter—an ache, a restlessness, a sense of disconnection. However it appears, I see therapy as a place to pause and pay attention—not to fix, but to meet experience more closely and listen to what it asks.

Are you in a position whereby your struggles or concerns are impacting on your day to day life? Then now could be a good time to seek some support. Often many difficulties overlap and counselling can help bring a sense of clarity by allowing you time to process, understanding, work through difficulties and overcome barriers, to live a more fulfilling life. You may be neuro-curious or have a diagnosis or traits that you want to understand and to learn about your strengths and feel empowered. You may want support with past trauma or help to work through the impact of a loved ones behaviour due to neurodivergence, addiction or trauma.

How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioural therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
