I am skilled at working with clients at all stages of their therapeutic journey; whether that involves guiding you through your first exploration of your difficulties with gentle consideration of what could be different, or with clients with clearer insight regarding their goals and key problem they would like to address. I work with an open and honest warmth, and take rapport building with clients seriously to ensure the therapeutic process runs smoothly and effectively. My experience has taught me that clients with the same openness and are willing to invest in this process, achieve rewarding outcomes.

Hi, I'm Em. If you’re feeling weighed down, overwhelmed, or stuck in unhelpful patterns, it can be hard to know where to start. You might look like you’re coping on the outside, while inside you feel disconnected or on edge. I can help you to find insight and support you with growth and change. I work with adults facing challenges such as anxiety, stress, depression, relationship difficulties, loss, low self-esteem, trauma and the lasting impact of past experiences. Together, we can explore what’s beneath the surface, find ways to build resilience, regulate emotions, develop coping tools and feel safer, calmer and more in control.

We all experience some form of distress in our lives. It could be sadness, anger, loneliness, stress, grief, anxiety, depression or something that you can’t explain. It could be current or could have happened in the past, or you may not know when it happened. It could lead to feeling overwhelmed or unable to cope, it could be affecting the relationships around you both personally or professionally. There are many things that contribute to this distress and being aware of them can help to ease the connected emotions. Counselling can help you do this by providing a safe and confidential space to explore and reflect upon these feelings

“I wish things could go back to normal!”, “I want to feel like me again!” Does this sound familiar? Many of my clients have said this in one way or another. Do you live with a sense that no one understands what you’re feeling?Sometimes it comes with a sense of shame or judgement that you can’t “just get back to normal.” Many of my clients have struggled with the effects of cancer diagnosis, others grief or loss and some have become full time carers. I offer a space for you to explore your feelings (all of them) and the support to help you make decisions about how you want to live in this new “normal”.

Is this what life was supposed to feel like? Perhaps you’ve hit some milestones - but now you're at a crossroads. If you're feeling this way, then I can help you. Together we might work on: Decision-paralysis. Reduce feelings of 'stuckness'. Ease anxiety about time (running out or being wasted). Let go of comparison. So that you can feel clear about your future, and confident to start living your life again!

If you're always the one holding it together, yet feeling exhausted inside, overwhelmed or constantly questioning yourself, you're in the right place. Perhaps you're juggling work, family, and everyone else's expectations while quietly running on empty. Maybe your mind never switches off, you overthink everything, or you've become so used to putting yourself last that you don't know what you need.

Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable, and highly self-aware, yet remain caught in patterns of self-criticism, perfectionism, pressure, and self-doubt. They may understand why they feel stuck but still struggle to translate insight into meaningful change. Therapy can help uncover what keeps these patterns in place and create a clearer path towards living with greater confidence, flexibility, and purpose.

Many of the people I work with describe feeling exhausted from holding everything together, successful on the outside, yet anxious, disconnected, or weighed down inside. They might be navigating life transitions, relationship changes, or the quiet heaviness of burnout and self-doubt. Some are neurodivergent or living with the effects of trauma, trying to make sense of emotions that feel overwhelming or hard to name. I offer a space where you can slow down and breathe where your experiences make sense, and where you’re supported in gaining a deeper understanding of yourself and who you want to be.

Hi, I’m Caroline and I’m an integrative, heart-centred psychotherapist. I’m glad you’re here. I know it can feel like a lot to look for a therapist and reach out for support. I tried to make my page punchy and straight to the point, but it didn’t feel like me anymore, so I decided to write you a letter instead. I hope this will help you to get a sense of whether I’m the right person to hold space for you, so get yourself a cup of tea and have a read. I’m guessing you’re here because you’re carrying something that you can’t work through on your own.

Women's Issues Counsellors
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realised.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
