I offer warm, down-to-earth integrative counselling, with a person-centred approach at its heart. Where helpful, I also draw on CBT and Transactional Analysis. My ideal clients are high-achieving adults, young professionals, and neurodivergent individuals exhausted from trying to "hold it all together." On the outside, you look like you have everything managed, but inside you feel overwhelmed, stuck in a loop of overthinking, or burned out by chronic stress. Many are navigating ADHD executive dysfunction, while others balance high career or family expectations. I also support South Asian and Muslim individuals carrying intergenerational pressures who want a space where their cultural identity is understood without explanation.

My role is to walk alongside you as things begin to make sense—where anxiety, grief, or feeling stuck are not problems to eliminate, but signals worth listening to.
Most people aren’t broken. They’re just used to not being heard. I work as a counsellor and psychotherapist from a person-centred perspective, grounded in a simple but often overlooked belief: people already hold the capacity to understand themselves, face what’s difficult, and change the direction of their lives. In a culture obsessed with quick fixes and neat labels, I offer something different—a space where you don’t have to perform, explain yourself perfectly, or be anything other than real. A space built on honesty, empathy, and acceptance. I don’t position myself as the expert on your life. You are.

“I wish things could go back to normal!”, “I want to feel like me again!” Does this sound familiar? Many of my clients have said this in one way or another. Do you live with a sense that no one understands what you’re feeling?Sometimes it comes with a sense of shame or judgement that you can’t “just get back to normal.” Many of my clients have struggled with the effects of cancer diagnosis, others grief or loss and some have become full time carers. I offer a space for you to explore your feelings (all of them) and the support to help you make decisions about how you want to live in this new “normal”.

Welcome to my profile. I'm Rob. My clients find therapy gives them a place to let go and be themselves. Therapy can be laid back and approachable - in fact, so much more seems possible when it is. It can be so liberating to truly be yourself. That means not worrying how you appear, if you'll offend someone, or if you'll be judged. Those things take so much effort. Here you can go for it! Say what you like, see what happens, let it all out. I promise I won't judge you. You deserve to be heard and understood from your point of view. If you didn't have enough of that in your life, here's a chance to make up for it.

I work therapeutically for the NHS and charities, providing support to clients suffering from anxiety, depression, personality disorders, chronic pain, and others.
There is hope even if your brain tells you there isn't, and it is my job as a counsellor to help you see it. It is usually buried somewhere under layers of shame, self-criticism and feeling not good enough. We will work together to help you feel a deeper sense of fulfilment and control over your life. With the right support and tools, you can overcome challenges and lead a more balanced and satisfying life, even if now it seems impossible.

My aim with therapy is to help you work out where you want to get to and help you find your ways to get there. Sometimes it can also be useful to think about what has happened to you. Working this way means we can find a path that suits you, in a collaborative way. I always keep in mind that you are the expert on you. I mainly use solution focused therapy which is a therapeutic approach that works with almost anybody and almost any issue. It is a way of identifying what a better life might be like and talking about how to get there. I can also use techniques from CBT, psychodynamic and person centred counselling.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
