Somatic Counselling in Marlborough
I am a somatic therapist working with how memories show up as symptoms, not only in our minds, but also in our bodies.
I hope I can be that therapist for you. I work with a mindful focus on what is happening for you as I am a sensorimotor trained psychotherapist. We would work with the body memories that are present after an overwhelming experience in the past to stabilise and equip you to cope in everyday life.

Do you feel that you're not living your best life? Do you have a desire to let go of habits and tendencies that are somehow tripping you up in your day to day life, but you cannot work out how to release these ways of being? We can have a sense that there is more to life, but it feels difficult to know how to ‘get there’. Sometimes we are fully aware that our trauma governs our behaviour, but that the prospect of processing life’s events feels almost impossible.
I offer a non-judgemental, compassionate, warm, empathic holding space where I will meet you where you are in your life and guide you to discover all of who you are.

After 10 years working as an integrative counsellor with individuals, my passion for understanding relationships and the ways we connect with one another led me to specialise in relationship and couples counselling.
I believe every relationship has its own story, and therapy should be shaped around the people sitting in front of me—not around a predetermined model.
My work is informed by attachment theory, an understanding of trauma and a focus on communication. You can expect a tailored, integrative approach in a warm safe space. I will offer thoughtful exploration and challenge with a focus on meaningful change.

I am best suited to those who want to understand themselves and those around them - or to understand what has happened to them. This inquiry is often prompted by some degree of difficulty; illness, loss, trauma, breakdown etc. but it can equally arise out of a pervading sense of depression, purposelessness or malaise about life. When one has some understanding of oneself and how a situation came about then life becomes much easier to navigate - an adventure even. Every situation, every person, every path, is unique and so every therapy is entirely individual.

Hi I'm Cesca, I'm an Integrative Arts Counsellor offering online counselling for adults (18+) across the UK. My practice brings together therapy and creative arts — you don’t need to be artistic to access arts counselling, creativity can naturally reach what words sometimes can't. You don’t need to see yourself as 'good at art’ to benefit from using creativity in counselling. I offer a regular space for you to explore, express and understand yourself better. I work with people navigating chronic illness/disability, neurodivergence, LGBTQ+ identity, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and the things that feel hard to name.

I use a combination of parts work (IFS) and somatic psychotherapy ( Somatic Experiencing and Sensorimotor) techniques for mind-body-soul healing.
If you are going through a tough time in your life, a lot of emotions are coming up right now, and it all feels a little overwhelming - my heart goes out to you. The hardest step is often reaching out for support and I am honoured you are considering working together. Having a dedicated space to be heard, explore our inner world and past experiences in a compassionate space can offer clarity and healing. My intention as a therapist is to create a space for you where the masks can drop, your authenticity can emerge and you feel supported in slowly reconnecting to the wisdom within.

During sessions, I may invite you to try some somatic practices alongside talk therapy, which many clients find helpful as part of the therapy experience, and have then made part of their lifestyle outside of therapy as a way to enrich their well-being.
Welcome. Maybe you've found yourself here because life is feeling hard at the moment? Perhaps your health, work and relationships are being negatively impacted? Whatever your circumstances, I'm happy to support you on your therapy journey. As an Integrative therapist based in Reading, I offer online therapy sessions across the UK and internationally working with clients to overcome issues which limit them, help them find resolution, and live life with renewed confidence.

Somatic Counsellors
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
