I work with adults (18+) experiencing anxiety, low mood, confidence and self-worth difficulties (including perfectionism), life transitions such as menopause or divorce, pet loss and bereavement.
My approach integrates CBT and person-centred therapy. Together, we look at both what’s happening now and the patterns underneath — not just to understand them, but to gently shift them. Sessions are collaborative and tailored to you. Sometimes we’ll focus on practical tools; other times we’ll take a step back and explore things more deeply.

Life can feel overwhelming when you’ve spent too long holding everything together. You may feel exhausted, disconnected from yourself, or stuck in patterns that no longer make sense. Perhaps you’ve lost confidence, feel anxious or on edge, or find it difficult to set boundaries without guilt. Many people reach a point where they realise they can’t keep going the way they have been — and they’re ready for clarity, not clichés. I’m Pam, a Person‑Centred Counsellor offering a calm, grounded space to think, feel, and make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface.

When words feel heavy or just won't come, it is okay to try something different. Welcome. I am an HCPC-registered Music Psychotherapist, which means our sessions don't have to rely solely on finding the "perfect" words to explain how you feel. Together, we can use music, sound, and creative arts alongside traditional talk therapy techniques to explore your experiences, process difficult emotions, and bring relief. You do not need to be musical or know how to play an instrument to work with me. This is a space where all of you is welcome, exactly as you are, whether we are talking, listening, or playing music.

Most people come to me when they have reached a point where insight alone is not enough. They are successful, capable and often appear very composed whilst privately they are overwhelmed with anxiety (often with a financial aspect), relational conflict, burnout, identity shifts, or long standing patterns they cannot seem to change. They have tried managing, coping and pushing through but something deeper needs to be understood. If this is where you find yourself, you are not alone and we can navigate this together. I work well with adults who are reflective and ready to understand themselves at depth.

I am a level 7 person-centred psychotherapist, with experience working with for example; bereavement, substance use, domestic abuse, trauma, relationship issues and neuro-diversity.
Psychotherapy: Making the decision to come to therapy/counselling can be difficult and sometimes anxiety provoking, and finding someone who you feel comfortable with can be a positive and reassuring start. I offer an initial, no commitment 30 minute session where we can begin to get to know each other, and begin to look at what you would to focus on in the work that we may do together. Part of the first session will include an outline of how I work, what to expect, discussing a working agreement which covers confidentiality etc, but it is mainly an opportunity to talk and be heard in a respectful, non-judgmental space.

I work with anxiety, low mood, bereavement, stress, life changes, burnout and difficult experiences.
You might be the person everyone relies on, the one who gets on with things, while privately wondering how much longer you can keep doing that. Maybe something has happened that has changed life as you knew it. Maybe there isn't one particular thing you can point to, but you feel anxious, overwhelmed, low, or simply tired of holding it all together. You might know exactly what you're struggling with, or you might just know that something doesn't feel right. Whatever has brought you here, you don't need to know exactly what you need from counselling before we begin.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
