I practice in a private and cozy space in the heart of Market Harborough for in person sessions but I also work online.
Hello and welcome! I am Nat. A lot of my clients tell me that, even though they have friends and family, there are certain things they feel they cannot discuss with others. Whether it is something they have never spoken about, or something they don’t want to burden others with because they believe that we all have our own problems to deal with. And this is where I come in with my caring and down to earth approach, the kind of therapy where you will be seen and heard in a non-judgemental compassionate way. I love my job and l love seeing my clients get better. I know that therapy works because I have witnessed it many times.

I offer online therapy across the UK via Zoom or telephone, and face to face sessions locally.
Are you replaying a difficult or traumatic birth, grieving a pregnancy loss, struggling with infertility or after fertility treatment such as IVF, or feeling anxious, and not quite yourself after becoming a mother? You’re not alone. Birth trauma and perinatal trauma — including miscarriage, stillbirth, termination, emergency C-section, or NICU/SCBU admission — can have lasting emotional effects. Partners who have witnessed trauma or loss can also be deeply affected.

At times life can be hard to cope with and understanding our thoughts, emotions and actions can feel over whelming and all consuming. Life at times can feel rather heavy and embarking on a therapeutic journey together we can help lighten the load. Working together on your journey to help you understand your past experiences, how these experiences can shape the way we feel and act, how this affects you now. Being able to reflect and start to recognise our own emotions is the building foundation for emotional, mental and physical resilience.

I'm flexible and can provide therapy online via teams or face to face on Monday sand Tuesdays.
Client 1 - "Ian's sessions have been nothing less than transformational and I now feel far better equipped to live my life without low moods and anxiety. My time with Ian is, without doubt, amongst the most valuable expereinces of my life. I would highly recommend him." Client 2 - "After years of gaslighting I began therapy doubting my sanity. Ian offered the deep listening and validation I desperately needed to feel safe and truly believed. With Ian's expert guidance I was able to move towards radical acceptance - grieving the relationship, letting go of any hope that they might change and breaking free of the trauma bonds."

Whatever brings you through the door, seeking to change or feel better, you no longer need to face your problems alone. It takes courage to look at ourselves and to sit with the myriad emotions and situations that have constructed the person that we are today: the hardest part is the first step, acknowledging the problem and seeking help. I offer therapy sessions in-person and online via zoom.
My aim is to be gentle, safe and supportive. I hope to help you with whatever it is that you are struggling with. I have particular experience with CFS/ME but can help with anxiety, depression, grief, loss, trauma, identity, stress... What makes you you is a unique blend of factors but at the same time it is good to know that it is very, very common to struggle or to need to make changes. I hope to offer a safe space for you to explore yourself (if that is what is needed) and to cope with your struggles.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
