Life can be messy, can’t it? Whether it’s navigating relationships, battling anxiety, trauma, or just trying to figure out what you’re doing, I’m here to help you untangle the chaos Reaching out for help isn’t easy. Whether you’re here because life threw you a curveball, or you just feel stuck in a rut you can’t seem to climb out of, you’re in the right place. Therapy is your time to vent, reflect, and grow (and occasionally laugh at life’s absurdities). I work with people from all walks of life—it might be you’re juggling stress, dealing with heartbreak, or asking yourself big life questions like, “What am I even doing?".

Hello and welcome! I am Nat. A lot of my clients tell me that, even though they have friends and family, there are certain things they feel they cannot discuss with others. Whether it is something they have never spoken about, or something they don’t want to burden others with because they believe that we all have our own problems to deal with. And this is where I come in with my caring and down to earth approach, the kind of therapy where you will be seen and heard in a non-judgemental compassionate way. I love my job and l love seeing my clients get better. I know that therapy works because I have witnessed it many times.

Whatever brings you through the door, seeking to change or feel better, you no longer need to face your problems alone. It takes courage to look at ourselves and to sit with the myriad emotions and situations that have constructed the person that we are today: the hardest part is the first step, acknowledging the problem and seeking help. Hi, I am Nathan, welcome. I have over 20 years experience in the NHS assessing, treating and supporting people with mental ill health, I have studied counselling and psychotherapy and I am in the advanced stages of training as a Transactional Analyst (T.A.) psychotherapist. This form of therapy involves the person taking a close observation of themselves and of how those around us shaped our personality. Many people think that this is unchangeable, transactional analysis helps us to analyse our beliefs about ourselves and others and to look at these beliefs in the here and now, test these beliefs and decontamonate our thinking.

If you are reading this you know its time for help, you maybe in that moment of surrender where you finally accept one profound truth: The pain of staying the same outweighs the fear of changing. You have tried to manage the unmanageable, using alcohol or substances as a highly effective anaesthetic catching up with you. You know now that the problem isn't the substance itself; the substance was just a solution a maladaptive one to a deeper pre-existing internal issue. Your searching for peace and serenity and to feel a sense of well being with life on a journey to happiness.

You feel like you can’t cope, you’re fed up, you’ve had enough. Your life isn’t what you want it to be. Living has become hard and there’s no joy in your world. It’s like everyone else except you is happy. You’re haunted by your past. You think you’ll never be happy again. You feel alone like no one else understands how hard your life is at the moment. On the outside you look fine but inside you feel like you’re dying. Everything you do feels like an act to look like you’re okay. You don’t know how to change things or what to do about it anymore.

You have taken an empowering step by reaching out for support. Before going further, would you like to pause briefly and take a few deep breaths? Hi, I am Deborah. Alcohol Use Counsellors
Are there specific medications for alcohol use?
There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.

How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
