For when being hard on yourself has become exhausting.
Perhaps you spend a lot of time overthinking, worrying about what other people think, or feeling like you’re never quite good enough. You might be incredibly hard on yourself, struggle with shame or low self-worth, or find yourself using behaviours to cope with feelings that have become difficult to manage.
From the outside, you may seem like you’re coping. Inside, things can feel very different.
I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you don’t have to pretend that everything is okay.

People come to therapy for many reasons. You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, stressed, struggling in a relationship, facing a crisis, or simply looking for a safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings.
I believe many emotional difficulties develop within relationships, and healing happens through relationships too. My approach is relational, collaborative and engaged. Rather than acting as a quiet observer, I will be actively involved as a co-researcher in the shared project of "what is wrong, and how do we resolve it?"
I won’t tell you what to do, but I will support you in finding your own path towards change.

I know that even thinking about counselling is a big decision and can seem really overwhelming, but it can be an opportunity for you to be in a safe space that is purely for you to explore what you are finding difficult. Before you even come to a session, lets have a chat to see if it feels right before taking the next step. I work with what you bring into the room, however, people learn in different ways and I can work in a Person Centred way or with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or even a mixture of both. As a trained listener, I aim to develop a therapeutic relationship to help you explore your issues at a pace to suit you.

You perform well in training, but when it matters most, in competition, under pressure, and with high stakes. Your mind goes blank. Confidence disappears. You choke under pressure.
I'm Tsvetelina Nenkova, a Sport & Performance Psychologist (HCPC). For six years, I've worked with athletes across multiple sports, helping them master the mental game. I use evidence-based approaches like ACT and Mental Skill Training to help you build unshakeable confidence, manage competitive anxiety, and perform your best when it counts.
You don't need to train harder. You need a mind that works for you, not against you. Let's work on that!

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
