I have worked with many different people struggling with many different issues over my 18 years experience as a therapist. I am interested in helping clients realise their potential and overcome any internal and external obstacles to this. I am particularly interested in helping people foster positive relationships in the broadest sense, whether with family members, partners, friends, colleague and most importantly with ourselves. As a counsellor, I will offer you a confidential space to explore the issues you are facing, the questions of meaning and possibilities of resolution; to work through difficult emotions and look for peace with the past. I work with people on issues around depression, anxiety, relationships, self-esteem, bereavement, past trauma and abuse, identity and diversity. Your sessions will be a place where you can have the freedom and safety to be; to develop your own identity, accept yourself and make positive decisions about your future.
I am here to offer you the space to explore your feelings, wishes and situation. I work from the client's perspective and have been doing this for a long time. I am first and foremost a helper, someone you can trust and relate well with on any issue. I am not here to judge you or talk over you but to provide you an avenue to finding lasting solutions on any issues that i have profound knowledge of. I work with people from all walks and with many issues but all feel a need to change something in their lives. I can create a safe space to explore and understand the problems you bring, both individually or together with partners. I have helped many clients deal with the issues arising from depression, self doubt, anxiety and trauma, or changing notions of self worth, especially in the face of work stress.
People access therapy for many different reasons, but generally we are most likely to reach out for help when our usual coping strategies are no longer effective. At these times it is not always helpful to turn to family or friends, as their well-meaning support often fails to make us feel truly understood. As a therapist, I will not be directive in pushing forwards solutions, because I do not claim to know you better than you know yourself. My aim is to provide a safe and authentic relationship, where an exploration of the dynamics between us becomes a significant factor in the effectiveness of the therapy.

With my brother diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia nearly 30 years ago, I have personal experience of the family sacrifices and struggles related to the pain and stigma of mental illness. Having since, committing my life to the improvement of people’s emotional fitness and mental resilience, with support from organisations such as SANE and MIND, my own journey has allowed me to discover the true benefits of therapy first-hand. Personal therapy is proving invaluable for people to manage certain difficult or crisis situations in their lives and so transform their problems into major opportunities for personal growth.
