If you have made the decision to reach out for support, you have already begun the process of change. Change can take many forms. It might feel confusing, hopeful, exciting, or even frightening. Whatever it feels like for you, you don’t have to face it alone. Perhaps you want to understand your response to stress, explore patterns in your relationships, or begin to heal from pain. Maybe you are not sure exactly what you want to change... and that is okay too. In therapy, we can explore together what change and growth might look like for you.

This process can increase your self-esteem and empower you to create positive change in your life.
I believe in the power of growth and self-discovery. My approach to counselling isn’t just about coping day to day, it’s about helping you understand yourself on a deeper level, so you can move forward with clarity and a sense of your self worth. You might be feeling anxious, burnt out, or disconnected from others. Maybe social situations feel overwhelming, or you struggle to express yourself and be truly seen. Perhaps work is draining your energy, leaving you exhausted and unfulfilled. Or maybe you don’t quite know why you feel stuck, you just know something needs to change.

I offer face-to-face, telephone & online support with a range of issues such as relationship struggles, anxiety, depression and low mood, low self-esteem, big life changes, loss & bereavement, stress, work-life balance, trauma - to name a few.
I will work with you to explore whatever problem you're facing, and to find the way to some relief. Then if it's of interest and relevant, we can do some work to discover the route cause of the problem. I often share knowledge and information with clients, so that you have some tools to help yourself now and, if needed, in any future difficult situation.

If you look put together on the outside, but your low self-confidence, self-esteem problems, or perfectionism make life feel harder than it should I can help.
People tell me they want to stop feeling bad about themselves because secretly they still imagine they're not quite good enough. You might have a 'complicated' family background and don't know if it's relevant (or what to do about it). You’ve spent too long trying to figure this out by yourself and want someone who can see past your bravado and help.

You’re outwardly functioning, maybe even thriving — but inside, something doesn’t feel right. You might find yourself overthinking after interactions, struggling to make decisions, or carrying a quiet sense that you’re somehow not quite enough. Or maybe you just feel numb, stuck, or like you're always performing. I work with people who’ve spent years saying “I’m fine” but quietly feel disconnected from themselves, from others, or from the life they want to live. Therapy can be a space to stop hiding and explore who you are, what you value, and how you want to live.

Hi, I’m Gaby, and I'm here to support you to find a creative way through your challenges. I've been working in the field of mental health for 12 years, and in that time I've gathered a toolkit of different approaches which allows me to tailor therapy to meet your individual needs. We can work towards a particular goal of your choice, or we can take an exploratory, open-ended approach. Either way, sessions will go at your own pace and on your terms.

It is fair to say that most of us encounter challenging times when we may feel anxious, depressed, or stuck. Perhaps you have a specific concern, or have experienced a recent change in circumstances or a prolonged period of stress. I believe that speaking with a trained counsellor, who is uninvolved in your situation and who will strive to understand your current difficulties from your perspective can help you process and navigate challenges and find new ways to cope or make decisions regarding what matters to you.

A lot of the work I do with clients involves improving self esteem & confidence.
If you're tired of battling stress, overwhelm, anxiety or if you're frustrated because you can't seem to be as productive or confident as you want, or need, to be then hypnotherapy can work amazingly well for you. Your subconscious is in the driving seat and while it tries to help you feel safe and survive, it can also hinder you too. Often we aren't entirely aware, at a conscious level, why we're struggling or stuck in self-sabotaging behaviour patterns. Hypnotherapy is able to reach your subconscious and work with it to correct course, allowing you to achieve what you want.

I’ve supported people facing all different kinds of challenges over the years - anxiety, depression, loss, relationship issues and low self-esteem, to name a few.
Maybe you’re feeling low at the moment, like you’ve lost your way. Perhaps you’re feeling anxious, or you'd like to be kinder to yourself but you don’t know how. Whatever the challenge, I'm ready to support you. Sometimes we all need a safe space where we can heal our wounds and speak openly about how we're feeling, without worrying that we’ll be judged.

I help with overthinking, people-pleasing, self-doubt, self-worth, and feeling stuck despite understanding your patterns.
Do you feel tired of working so hard on yourself? You're thoughtful, capable, and deeply self-aware yet your mind stays busy, emotions leave you drained, and you're caught in loops of overthinking, self-doubt, or over-responsibility. You've tried therapy, read the books, and understand your patterns, but real change hasn't happened yet. My work blends therapeutic and spiritual perspectives to help you find peace in your mind and reconnect with your natural clarity, steadiness, and self-trust - not just through insight, but through a deeper, more trusting relationship with yourself. I work in a calm, direct, and practical way.

I have experience in with working with trauma, anxiety, depression and self esteem, unhelpful coping strategies and male survivors of sexual abuse and rape.
Our past and present are intimately linked by our memories. Our memories are heavily influenced and based on feelings we had surrounding an event or experience. These experiences may be impacting your life right now, even the ones that might seem irrelevant or insignificant. If we don't become aware of this connection it will keep affecting our future, which over time can cause us stress. Prolonged stress can manifest itself in physical forms, including illness, lack of energy, problems with sleep, headaches, depression and anxiety. When you are mentally healthy you are able to handle life's challenges.

Self Esteem Counsellors
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
