Psychodynamic Counselling in Manchester
If you are going through a tough time in your life, a lot of emotions are coming up right now, and it all feels a little overwhelming - my heart goes out to you. The hardest step is often reaching out for support and I am honoured you are considering working together. Having a dedicated space to be heard, explore our inner world and past experiences in a compassionate space can offer clarity and healing. My intention as a therapist is to create a space for you where the masks can drop, your authenticity can emerge and you feel supported in slowly reconnecting to the wisdom within.

You may be experiencing depression, anxiety, or feeling confused that life, and relationships aren't turning out how you expected. We all find ourselves repeating unhelpful or painful patterns of behaviour sometimes, and feel unable to change them. In therapy these patterns are uncovered and you can learn how to change them to be a new, healthier and happier you, to enjoy a fuller life and healthier relationships. If you have not had therapy before give it a try. Everyone can benefit from therapy and improve their quality of life so don't hesitate to take the first step

I am a full professional member, as a psychodynamic psychotherapist, of the British Psychoanalytic Council and the British Psychotherapy Foundation.
There is a wide variety of reasons why you might be looking for a psychotherapist, but perhaps everyone wants to change ingrained states of mind, and to live in a rewarding and productive way. It's difficult, but the aim of analytic work is to get to grips with persistent problems. It holds out the hope of finding new decisiveness and flexibility in living.

Therapy brings clarity, helping you make effective decisions and positive changes in thoughts, attitudes, and behaviours. It's not about advice giving but creating space to talk, explore, and reach your own realisations. The goal is to feel more equipped to make choices and move forward with confidence and wellbeing. Hypnotherapy & mindfulness can be introduced as a type of complementary therapy—hypnosis promotes focus and openness to positive change, while mindfulness helps keep you grounded in the present.

I understand that it can be hard to reach out for therapy, especially when you may be finding life tough at the moment. Or perhaps you are in a better place and have decided that you want to explore aspects of your life. Either way, please do contact me to discuss your needs. In therapy sessions I would work with you to process your past so that you can see how it impacts the present. For many there is the need to grieve for what has been lost, whilst giving the opportunity to identify and embrace your true inner self. You would strengthen ‘Adult’ you, freeing yourself to embrace life.

I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches including Psychodynamic and Person Centred schools.
I am a BACP registered Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor.
I view therapy as an honest, meaningful conversation between two people where you will feel heard and understood. My style is friendly and down-to-earth, with a focus on building a genuine connection and then using this as the basis for exploring aspects of your life that are holding you back. I appreciate that starting any kind of personal work may be daunting and can bring up feelings of anxiety, so I place a great deal of emphasis on making sure the relationship is a good fit and we work at a pace that promotes a sense of safety before we begin to work at depth

If you’re reading this, it probably means you’re thinking about starting therapy – maybe for the first time. Fair play for making it here. I know it won’t have been easy. Sadly, most guys don’t make it this far. But you did – so well done.
I specialise in working with men who feel stuck, ashamed or emotionally flat. You might be functioning well enough, but you know there’s something deeper… and maybe haven’t ever spoken about.
Whether it’s a long-standing issue or something that’s come up recently – addiction, anger, burnout, relationships, identity, porn or loss – we work together to understand what’s really going on for you.

I specialise in relationship issues and use a combination of psychodynamic therapy with systemic and family therapy.
People come for therapy for many different issues. A common theme is that people want to get a greater sense of themselves and understanding of what may have caused their issues and how they might grow past these challenges. Therapy can help you feel better about yourself and improve your mental health.

I operate as an Integrative Counsellor using Person Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy.
Accepting that you need the help of someone else can be hard. Making the decision to attend counselling can be even harder. Partners, peers and family may not understand, you may feel like you've failed somehow, you may feel like you are not enough. This is far from the truth however.
Attending counselling is often the first step on a journey that allows us to confront our difficulties, face our fears, become more self-aware and ultimately take a path that can lead to a better life.
