I offer remote therapy using EMDR which is an effective and recommended (NICE) treatment for PTSD I am an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist . I have worked extensively in the NHS and in private practice. EMDR has also been found through research to be very helpful in treating depression and many of the anxiety disorders including phobias. Both CBT and EMDR are evidence based treatments for anxiety disorders, depression and PTSD. I have found remote therapy to be as effective as face to face. I use zoom and for emdr I use EMDRCloud so ideally clients need to have access to a laptop or tablet in addition to a phone.

Cognitive behavioural therapy starts with making connections in your day to day life between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviour.
I became a therapist because I like people - I like to understand their stories and how that has brought them to where they are. When you are feeling stuck because of anxiety or depression it is usually pretty difficult to believe anyone would want to listen. Well I do. I want to help you discover and explore the events, thoughts, feelings, and patterns of behaviour that have made you feel trapped so that you can make changes. Imagine being able to see your friends, attend events, even just sleep, without anxious or self critical thoughts wearing you down. That is what therapy with me can offer.

Although I regularly work with clients of all ages and genders, the majority of my clients tend to be young men, who have unresolved feelings or experiences which are impacting on their daily lives. I work as an integrative counsellor, from a person-centred perspective. This means that you can bring whatever you wish to the session, while we work at your pace and depth. I employ theory and techniques from CBT , psychodynamic and other therapeutic philosophies which I feel may be useful. Where we start is not the important thing as ultimately, you will naturally discover the things that matter the most to you.

I see clients with a variety of problems, and provide CBT and counselling that is individualised according to your current needs.
Choosing a professional to help you with your struggles can be a stressful process. Many people have heard of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy but aren’t sure what it involves, and don’t know whether they need CBT , counselling or something else. That’s not a problem - I will provide an initial phone or video consultation to answer questions, listen to your concerns and discuss with you what you are looking for. My first session involves an assessment of your current difficulties from the perspective of a trained mental health professional, and working with you to establish whether CBT or counselling would be most beneficial for you.

I use of Cognitive Behaviour therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desentisation) for trauma based presentations and Schema therapy for childhood experiences.
Do your suffer with anxiety and do you want help, then I am able to help with this. Anxiety can plague you throughout your life. If this describes you then I can help you understand the reasons why. Have you engaged in therapy before and nothing seems to work, then I can help you understand why. Do you struggle to regulate your emotions and you do not understand why, then therapy can help you explore why you have unhelpful patterns of behaviour. This may relate to early life experiences.

Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) Counsellors
Cognitive-behavioural therapy stresses the role of thinking in how we feel and what we do. It is based on the belief that thoughts, rather than people or events, cause our negative feelings. The therapist assists the client in identifying, testing the reality of, and correcting dysfunctional beliefs underlying his or her thinking. The therapist then helps the client modify those thoughts and the behaviors that flow from them. CBT is a structured collaboration between therapist and client and often calls for homework assignments.
