Want to be a happier, calmer parent? Are you struggling with parenting stress or parental burnout? Has parenting stress drained all the joy out of parenthood for you and left you struggling with difficult emotions like anxiety, sadness, anger and guilt? Maybe chronic stress is making you
act
in ways you regret such as being too harsh with your children or becoming distant from them? When times get tough in parenthood, we often blame ourselves for not being good enough parents but the truth is we need better support. As a clinical psychologist and mum of 3, I know how hard parenthood can be and I know how best to support parents.

My main area of practice is CBT with an emphasis on
ACT
and CFT as a way of perceiving and working with psychological distress.
Hi, I'm Craig, a CBT therapist. I'm here to help you understand and change the thoughts and behaviours that are causing you distress. I know that it can be difficult to talk about what's going on in your life, but I'm here to listen and offer support. I'll work with you to develop a personalised treatment plan that meets your individual needs. CBT is a short-term, goal-oriented therapy that has been proven effective for a wide range of problems, including anxiety, depression, stress, eating disorders, and more. It's based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are all interconnected.

Clients finish therapy with me feeling more grounded and a sense of inner peace, they feel a deeper clarity and
acceptance
of who they are, and the confidence to start living in a way they have been yearning for.
Does This Feel Familiar? Maybe you feel like the floor has disappeared from underneath you and you've been free-falling for a while. You may experience a clenching sensation in your chest or stomach that you label as anxiety or depression. There may be a fear of losing control of your life or yourself, and a persistent sense of being on high alert to danger or rejection, leaving you feeling emotionally drained. A mental fog may prevent you from staying on task or fully engaging in your life, making it challenging to stay present with the people you love and care for. Maybe you are consumed with self-loathing towards your body.

Counselling can offer many possibilities, for understanding,
acceptance
, change or growth.
Hello, I am Zena, a therapist working online from my base in South Yorkshire. I work with people that are struggling with their mental health, or those finding themselves dissatisfied with some aspect of their life. It can be that one leads to the other, in that an unacknowledged or ignored dissatisfaction can lead to a deterioration of our mental health and general wellbeing. For this reason, I offer traditional ongoing therapy and also short-term sessions which can be either explorative or solutions focused in nature.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Counsellors
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.
What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.
Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.
How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
