I found my way to being a Psychologist because I am deeply curious about people and what makes us ‘tick’ and I struggle to see suffering without doing something to help. For most of my week, I work for the NHS in the Complex Needs Service, with people who have experienced trauma and who have complex emotional needs. I am also a DBT Therapist in our NHS Trust’s small DBT Service. Whether you're looking for help with serious mental health difficulties or you're just feeling stuck and struggling with motivation, Psychological Therapy can help!

I am a solution focused counsellor, my training derives from the understanding that when essential emotional needs are met, a human being will be emotionally and mentally healthy.. its when our emotional needs are not being met or are unintentionally misused that undesirable mental states such as: anxiety, anger, depression, addiction and psychosis develop., for instance, misuse of the imagination - to conjure up the worst possible or threatening scenarios-is a common feature of all these states. I aim to work through how you got to this point in your life, to help support you in finding new ways to move forward and embrace life.

The mind is a delicate and powerful part of ourselves, and it can be easy to feel overwhelmed by negative thoughts and emotions. But it's important to remember that we all have the capability to harness the power of our minds to create balance and control in our lives. It can be difficult to navigate this on our own, but with the right guidance, you can transform your mind into your greatest ally. I understand that seeking help can feel daunting, but know that you are not alone. My goal is to create a warm and understanding environment where we can work together to make positive changes in all aspects of your life.

Changes often take time and effort. As you read this, you may be confused, feeling stuck or have difficulty finding direction to go as you are going through a major transition in your life. Being 'between' different life stages, countries and cultures, jobs and education, different family roles can be a struggle and it takes a lot of energy to carry on moving forward. You may be needing somewhere safe to stop, have your breath back and examine what is happening around and inside of you so that you can recalibrate yourself and start moving on.

Children and Young People have many issues which they cannot always express and understand their feelings, as adults sometimes can. Issues can range from parents splitting up, school problems, exam stress and pressure, friendship issues, witnessing domestic abuse or sexual abuse. The lists can be endless. My job is to creatively work with the child or young person to explore what their issues are and help build up self esteem and track their goals in therapy in creative ways.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Counsellors
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder in which people have unwanted and repeated thoughts, feelings, ideas, sensations (obsessions), or behaviours that make them feel driven to do something (compulsions). It affects children, kids, teens and adults. Often the person carries out the behaviours to get rid of the obsessive thoughts, but this only provides temporary relief. Not performing the obsessive rituals can cause great anxiety. A person's level of OCD can be anywhere from mild to severe, but if severe and left untreated, it can destroy a person's capacity to function at work, at school or even to lead a comfortable existence in the home.
