Whether it is an individual or a couple seeking help, I would emphasise that making a commitment to the therapeutic process in terms of time and openness to work on great difficulties is extremely important, if such conflicts are to be worked through and change is to take place.
I am Miricia, an experienced, fully qualified BACP registered counsellor and psychotherapist. I have many years' experience in the mental health field along with formal training that provides me with a solid foundation to practice as an integrative counsellor. I have worked in private practise, businesses, charities, schools and have also featured on BBC Radio Two. In addition to my private practice I have experience in various mental health settings, having worked in the mental health field for the NHS in London, and as a counsellor for various employee assistance programmes and voluntary community counselling services.

Are you finding it hard to make friends and maintain a valuable relationship with them?
Talking to a therapist can be very difficult for people especially for those from the BAME community to seek help when they need it. So, if we have decided to work together after our phone conversation, I will offer you a safe and confidential space you need to explore any issues and concerns you have without feeling being judged.

Together, we can explore the emotional triggers, relationship patterns and behaviours that are keeping you feeling stuck.
My work is primarily informed by Transactional Analysis (TA), a clear and insightful approach that can help you understand why you respond in certain ways and how earlier experiences may still be shaping your present. With greater awareness, you can begin to develop new choices, build healthier relationships, strengthen your sense of self and control.

I support adults and young people navigating trauma, emotional overwhelm, identity struggles, and relationship difficulties.
Life can feel heavy at times. Sometimes it is one clear event. Sometimes it is years of holding things together until something inside feels tired. You may be overwhelmed, doubting yourself, or carrying experiences that still affect you today. I offer a calm, empathic space where you can slow down and be heard without judgement. My humanistic approach focuses on understanding what you have lived through and helping you reconnect with your needs and your voice. If you are ready to begin, or even just curious about what it might feel like to have a space that is truly yours, I welcome you to reach out.

Dealing with the fundamental challenges of life can be difficult; work, family, relationships, anxieties, depression and many other issues that can have a detrimental impact on your well-being.
I take an eclectic approach, utilising a variety of therapeutic approaches to identify and challenge your beliefs and behaviours. How you are 'now' is crucial, and we will resolve the fundamental obstacles that exist, reflecting upon childhood experience, and recognising how past encounters can result in dysfunctional responses causing anxiety and trauma.

Whether it is alcohol, drugs, shopping, surgery or unhealthy relationships we are trying to cope with deep unhappiness in the best way we can and as we get older those feelings and addictive behaviour can often get stronger and take us to dark places.
I recognise the hopelessness we may feel when we think we have little of value to give anymore and offer a safe, non-judgmental space to explore those feelings. I work Face to Face and online across the UK and Europe. I offer 60 minute sessions, with the first one at a reduced rate to see if we feel comfortable to work together.

You are the only person who knows exactly how you feel, which means, you are the only one who knows when something is wrong. When something has happened, big or small, but enough to create feelings of anxiety, stress and depression, it can lead us to feeling isolated and alone. There is a human need to want to get back to that balance of a happy life and that change can only happen when you know and understand what is wrong and why. Sometimes we get so overwhelmed by a situation, current or historical, we cant seem to find a way out. But balance is achievable again, but sometimes we just need a little support to help us get there.

FAQ - About Couples Therapy
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
