I am an integrative counsellor offering talking therapy focused on you and your needs. Sometimes this will mean providing a safe place to openly discuss your concerns and difficulties without judgement and sometimes this will be providing solutions and guidance around practical elements to help overcome your concerns and difficulties, depending on what best suits your needs. I work with adults and couples across a range of presenting issues.

Many of the people I work with feel stuck in patterns they can’t quite explain. I support adults, children, teenagers and families experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, ADHD, relationship difficulties, school difficulties, challenging behaviour or the lasting impact of difficult experiences. Through a trauma-informed, attachment-focused and family systems approach, we look beneath the surface to understand what’s happening, make sense of patterns and strengthen relationships, helping create meaningful, lasting change rather than simply managing symptoms.

I am an integrative counsellor, which means I use a combination of approaches tailored to the needs of my clients such as person centred, and CBT to examine current thoughts and feelings, as well as psychodynamic exploration of the past to help reach an understanding of the issues being faced. Each client is unique, and I welcome their thoughts about the direction in which they would like their therapy sessions to take. I am an approved therapist for Anxiety UK and am experienced in working with clients struggling with anxiety and depression. This can range from mild stress and low mood to a feeling of being completely debilitated

I also work with relationship issues such as communication problems, conflict, affairs, divorce and separation, post natal depression, loss of intimacy, trauma and I work with same sex relationships.
My focus is understanding the key issues, getting results and working to find the best solution for my clients. Clients have previously said that they choose me because whilst I have a friendly and supportive nature I understood them and their needs straight away and worked with them to quickly resolve their issues for the better.

Do you often appear calm and capable on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, anxious or disconnected within? You may be struggling with anxiety, stress, low self-worth, relationship difficulties, life transitions or the lasting impact of difficult experiences. Many of the patterns that leave us feeling stuck today—such as perfectionism, people-pleasing, overthinking and self-criticism—were once creative ways of helping us cope. Together, we'll explore these patterns with curiosity rather than judgement, helping you understand yourself more deeply.

Individuals and couples decide to look for therapy for many reasons; stress, anxiety or depression, difficulties in relationships; anything that's stopping them living the life they want. I place importance on helping clients understand the causes, not simply focusing on the symptoms. Ultimately, knowing yourself better is the key to a more fulfilling life, with improved relationships and feeling better within yourself on a day to day basis.

Divorce Counsellors
How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?
Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?
There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioural, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioural therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?
When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
