Hello, and welcome to my profile. Being an experienced counsellor of 15 years, I can support you to heal and grow. Counselling is not just about the 'problem', but also about your self awareness, your personal self development and strengthening your ability to cope when times are tough. Anxiety, depression, addictions, relationships challenges, low self esteem, intrusive thoughts, overthinking, to name but a few, are all reactions of your own life experiences from a young age. Counselling explores this, and as a professional Integrative Therapist, together, we can work towards healing old wounds. Encouraging life in presence.

Need someone to talk to? I guess this is why you are here at the moment. Something is up, perhaps life is not panning out the way you had hoped, unsatisfied with your relationship or maybe you just want to get a deeper understanding of yourself. Whatever may have led you to seek counselling, I'm genuinely glad you've taken this step.

On our journey through life, we can become lost and caught up in negative thoughts and feelings. This can change our perception and take us out of balance. It may also affect our well-being by creating problems in our relationships which may lead to anxiety, depression or low self-esteem. Counselling can help us to understand patterns in our life that cause distress and helps to facilitate insights into the core of our thinking, our self belief, our behaviour and the imposed limitations to bring about change. I have experience in working with teenagers and adults with anxiety, depression, loss and bereavement and low self esteem.

My counselling experience is varied and includes working with people who have problems with low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, work stress and coping with mid-life transitions.
Perhaps you are feeling lost, in a 'strange place' or no longer feel yourself to be the person you once were. You'd like to understand why this is and talk about your difficult feelings with someone who is non-judgmental and who can help you better understand them.

I enjoy working with couples, individuals and families particularly with relationship issues. I also have clients who identify as dual heritage and wish to explore 'who am I?' and the cultural difficulties they experience. I also have a fondness for helping parents better connect with their children. This includes small children (3-9yrs) and adolescent children, but includes any relationship breakdown. I also support clients who have been traumatised and for those who are happy to engage, set personal development homework, so clients can witness their own progress.

Sometimes we don't know how we feel, or why we keep reacting to others the way we do. We just know we don't want to be stuck in unhelpful patterns or feel the pain anymore. Perhaps you seem to have everything together on the surface but underneath you feel overwhelmed, and you worry about what others might think of you if you told them how you really feel. You may have been thinking that you need to figure this out on your own but get frustrated because nothing seems to work. Maybe you feel that your issue is too insignificant and others have bigger problems.

In my practice I have worked with hundreds of people; builders, CEOs, nurses, accountants - all walks of life, all backgrounds and all issues.
Most of us want a sense of purpose, need meaning, and strive for balance and peace in our lives. My clients are often working through difficult and knotty issues which can evoke confusion, sadness and shame. If you are thinking about therapy you may be feeling sad, lost, confused, anxious, angry, depressed or overwhelmed. Or you may want to take a step back, reassess your life and start to live it differently. Whatever your situation I will work with you to help you reach an accommodation and understanding which helps you to move forwards with your life in a positive way.

Life Coaching Counsellors

What can I expect from life coaching?

Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?

Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?

Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?

Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
