I work with individuals who may be feeling overwhelmed, emotionally drained, or struggling to make sense of their thoughts and feelings. You might be someone who overthinks, finds it hard to set boundaries, or feels stuck in patterns that are difficult to change. You may also be carrying grief, loss, or the weight of past experiences that continue to affect you. Many of the people I support have spent a long time putting others first, often leaving little space for themselves. You might feel unheard, misunderstood, or unsure of where to turn, even when there are people around you. I offer a space where you can begin to feel safe,

If you are feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, or exhausted from masking and coping alone, you are not on your own. Many of the people I work with are ADHD, Autistic or AuDHD (diagnosed, self-identified, or exploring) and struggle with overthinking, people-pleasing, and feeling misunderstood or ‘too much/not enough’. I am a BACP registered counsellor specialising in neurodivergence (ADHD and Autism) and relational trauma. This includes the impact of emotionally difficult or unsafe relationships, attachment wounds, and patterns that can leave you feeling stuck, anxious, or disconnected from yourself and others.

Hello and welcome, my name is Michelle and I am an experienced Integrative counsellor offering a safe non-judgmental space and someone to talk to who is here for you and here to listen. Sometimes when we're struggling, it can be hard to see the way forward. The stress of life and past experiences leave us feeling disconnected and unsure how to care for our mental and physical wellbeing. If you are and adult or young person who is struggling with those intense feelings of overwhelm that can stop you from finding a way through the most difficult and challenging times. I understand how hard this can be.

There are times in our lives when our ability to cope alone is significantly diminished. You may be there right now. Perhaps negative experiences from the past, or significant life changing experiences have altered the way you think, feel, or behave. You want to move forward, but just can't seem to break the cycle of shame, guilt and fear? You may be unsure who you can trust? My personal experience and faith in God's transforming power fuels my passion to come alongside the hurting, wounded, confused, lonely and voiceless as I witness broken lives being restored.

You may need help with sexual problems such as loss of desire, pain, erectile issues, porn use or maybe you and your partner are arguing, stuck in unhelpful patterns of behaviour. Counselling offers clients an unbiased, non-judgemental space to talk, reflect on and consider relationship and personal issues. It is my belief that a trusting and comfortable relationship between the client and the counsellor is a key element to successful therapy.

I work with adults experiencing relationship difficulties, anxiety in relationships and low self-esteem or feelings of not being 'good enough.' You may feel anxious or on edge in relationships but more confident when on your own, or notice repeating relationships patterns that feel difficult to change. You may struggle to express how you feel, leading to frustration, self-doubt or feeling overlooked.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
