From my experience some of the main reasons people seek counselling or therapy is their desire to change and to find some relief from distress. My purpose is to help you achieve this and support you during the process. Perhaps you are feeling frustrated with repeating patterns of behaviour that feel hard to understand and change. Maybe you are feeling depressed, anxious, overwhelmed, suffering with low self-esteem or generally disappointed with how life is for you right now. These are just a few of the issues that I can help you with.

do you feel like no matter hard you try its never good enough. If you’ve been thinking about getting help for a while but feel scared or unsure how to start, you’re not alone. Maybe anxiety’s always buzzing in the background, or the world just doesn’t make sense the way it seems to for others. I get it—especially if you’re autistic or think you might be. I work with clients navigating life with ASD or anxiety, creating a space that actually fits you. No pressure, no judgment—just support that makes sense. if you have rad this far maybe its a sign. no pressure no magic wands just some good chats and a listening ear.

Life is so tough at the moment! Are you feeling completely overwhelmed with things you feel you 'should' be doing?- Feeling anxious or not good enough? Trying so desperately hard to look ok but inside feeling you are really not? We can work together to figure out how you would like your life to look. How you are going to get there and why this feeling is happening now? We can keep this totally in the present or look back at your past to see if there are recurring patterns or issues that might be making you feel this way. I can help you unpick all of this at your own pace in confidence.

Whether you are struggling with emotions, relationships or physiological symptoms of anxiety or depression I can offer a safe space to explore these. You may be struggling to understand why things are so difficult, and may be very critical of yourself, thinking you should be coping better. You might have experienced a traumatic event, or always felt that you don't quite fit in, blaming yourself. You might be in a couple or a family unit struggling with arguments or disconnection from each other. You might just want to re-think your values and life goals to shift your future focus to something more rewarding.

Past traumas haunt us, while the unpredictable future worries us -living in the present becomes increasingly more difficult. The constant that we can rely on is change. My aim is to help you take control of the change that you want to make, to claim the life you want for yourself, to find your meaning in your life and live it as fully as possible. I draw from different skills/models acquired over the years during clinical practice and training. My background in performing arts ensures that creative thinking is at the heart of my work. I believe that a holistic approach supports in processing and healing from traumatic events safely.

Hi, I'm Chris, I'm a bit of a nerd who is into books, gaming, movies and TV shows. Being a therapist isn't just my job, it's something I genuinely love doing because I am hugely curious about people. I realised I had a true interest in people while I traveled and met people from different walks of life, cultures and spiritualities. I spend a lot of my time trying to learn and understand things, whether it's a new game, philosophical concept or how something works. In my role as a therapist I'm getting to know and understand you so that we can figure out how best to support you through what it is you are experiencing.

Dissociative Disorders (DID) Counsellors

How does therapy for dissociative disorders work?

Dissociation may be triggered by stress or other upsetting circumstances, and therapy can address the traumatic events at the core of an individual’s dissociation. Understanding why a person may dissociate can help the therapist and the individual come up with alternative methods of coping. A person with a dissociative disorder may get stuck on negative thinking, for example, and treatment like Cognitive behavioural therapy is a gold standard for breaking such thinking. And dialectical behaviour therapy, for example, can help a person manage their anguish through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for dissociative disorders?

Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioural, dialectical behaviour, psychodynamic, schema therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioural and dialectical behaviour therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful memories and past traumas. These therapies work to integrate an individual's different identities into one person.

Are there specific medications for dissociation?

There are no specific medications prescribed for dissociative disorders. However, psychosis, depression, anxiety, and/or panic often co-occur in dissociative disorders. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for any accompanying symptom which may include antipsychotics, antidepressants, or anti-anxiety drugs.

How often and how long are therapy sessions?

Like any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. There are still other patients, especially those who have co-occurring conditions like depression and anxiety, who may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months.
