Whether you are struggling with emotions, relationships or physiological symptoms of anxiety or depression I can offer a safe space to explore these. You may be struggling to understand why things are so difficult, and may be very critical of yourself, thinking you should be coping better. You might have experienced a traumatic event, or always felt that you don't quite fit in, blaming yourself. You might be in a couple or a family unit struggling with arguments or disconnection from each other. You might just want to re-think your values and life goals to shift your future focus to something more rewarding.

Many of the people I work with are struggling with questions of faith, identity, and culture, often alongside a loss of meaning or a fractured relationship with belief, responsibility, and self. I work with people who want to understand themselves properly, not just manage symptoms. Experiences such as religious trauma, diaspora identity, internalised racism, and racial trauma sit at the centre of my work. My role is not to offer quick fixes. It is to help you think clearly about your life, your history, and the patterns you find yourself repeating, especially the ones you already recognise but cannot shift.

Do you want to break free from addiction, anxiety or some other way that trauma is casting a shadow over your life? I am an internationally trained and registered Trauma & Addictions Counsellor. My practice is focused on anxieties, all forms of addictions, distressed eating, and other effects of trauma. This also involves relationship issues, problematic patterns of thinking and behaviour, body image, sex, shame and guilt. These problematic coping mechanisms are often tangled up with underlying pain and distress, which remains hidden from us, and I use a variety of counselling practices to make these visible with clients.

Employing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness and DBT methods.
Therapy is all about creating meaningful change that will help you to not be held back by mental health difficulties and live your life to the fullest. There's a massive difference between living, and merely existing, and I have been there myself. I feel privileged and excited to be a part of your journey to reach your full potential. This can be a daunting time, as you explore parts of yourself that you haven't acknowledged before, or you have tried previously to work on. I am passionate about therapy as I have seen how life changing it can be and will help you every step of the way to achieve your goals.

Hi, I'm Grace and I am a Clinical Psychologist, registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC), and have over 10 years experience working with a range of young people and adults within both the NHS and private sector. I take a systemic approach, which means that I consider the wider factors that may be contributing to someone's difficulties, while acknowledging someone's strengths and individuality within sessions. I take a non-pathologising, holistic view when working with individuals, continually reviewing and co-constructing the sessions to ensure clients' voices are heard.

You came in uncertain, maybe a little sceptical. You weren't sure therapy could help, or that anything could. But you did the work. Something shifted. Not magic, not overnight but real, lasting change that you still feel today. You moved forward. You built something better. And it was hard, but not as long as you expected. I help people to move forward by making the process of therapy as short as I can, so patients can move on autonomously with tools that are long lasting. If you're ready to be the kind of person who looks back a year from now and thinks that was the turning point, DoorToTherapy this is the right place to start.

I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist. I work with young people and adults. People come to see me with a variety of difficulties they are facing, for example, anxiety, self-harm, loneliness, intrusive thoughts, or sadness. People usually seek help when they feel completely stuck and have nowhere else to turn. From there, we work together to figure out how to create the changes they would like to improve their lives or relationships, to have healthier coping skills, to engage more easily with others, or just a space to be heard.

Dialectical Behaviour (DBT) Counsellors
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behaviour and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behaviour, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioural change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behaviour; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
