Over time this can feel too much and we may begin to feel anxious, depressed or overwhelmed.
Rather than offering quick or prescriptive solutions, I will take the time to understand your life, in a thoughtful way. I am interested in how your past experiences might be shaping your present - your emotions, relationships, patterns of behaviour and thinking. By exploring these patterns together, insight and clarity can be achieved.

I work with anxiety, self esteem, trauma, identity crises, relationship issues and much more all with the skills and expertise gained through years of experience and professional development.
Mental health conditions don’t arise because there is something wrong with us but because at some point we have left parts of ourselves behind through life's inevitable ups and downs. Left unprocessed these experiences deplete and shrink us causing the typical MH issues so familiar to us. We feel unseen and a 'less than' version. Good therapy is about reclaiming yourself bringing together mind, body and spiritual aspects that contribute to your well-being. Reviving purpose, joy and pleasure once again. Put simply, good therapy is about healing and leads to a greater potential in you.

I aim to be open to your experience of yourself rather than a label of ‘ anxiety’ or ‘depression’ and so offer a free 20 minute telephone consultation as an opportunity for us to discuss working together.
Do you find yourself prioritising the external world and the needs of those around you? Perhaps you feel different to others or misunderstood in relationships? It may be you experience self-doubt, negative thinking or notice yourself repeating patterns that impact your relationships. Whatever is going on for you working together, relationally we can begin to explore ‘YOU’, focus on raising your awareness & understanding of the way you experience yourself, to identify your goals for therapy, to be open to learning new ways of being. Therapy is a commitment between client & therapist, to be open to wanting things to be different.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
