Life can feel overwhelming when you’ve spent too long holding everything together.
You may feel exhausted, disconnected from yourself, or stuck in patterns that no longer make sense. Perhaps you’ve lost confidence, feel anxious or on edge, or find it difficult to set boundaries without guilt. Many people reach a point where they realise they can’t keep going the way they have been — and they’re ready for clarity, not clichés.
I’m Pam, a Person‑Centred Counsellor offering a calm, grounded space to think, feel, and make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface.

I support people with loss of self and identity, the emotional impact of caring, addiction and trauma.
You might be exhausted by the day-to-day, burdened or burnt out, or have lost your sense of self or direction. Life events may have become unwanted triggers, or perhaps you want to understand yourself and your experiences differently.
You don’t need a clear goal for therapy; sometimes you just know something doesn’t feel right. We can sit and talk, walk and talk, or, if you want to try something different, meet the horses. Their responses in the moment can help us notice emotions and patterns as they happen, helping you develop a different relationship with yourself, others and the experiences you carry.

Hi, I'm Suzanna, Founder of Alma Psychotherapy. Many people I work with are thoughtful, capable and highly self-aware, yet continue to experience emotional exhaustion, recurring relationship difficulties or a sense that life has become shaped more by survival than fulfilment. Some come individually, feeling disconnected from themselves or repeating familiar patterns; others come as couples, caught in cycles of conflict, distance or misunderstanding. I offer relationship-focused psychotherapy online across the UK, as well as in person in Grimsby, creating space for deeper, lasting change.

Walking side by side can feel less exposing than eye contact, which often makes it easier to open up. The rhythm of walking, fresh air and changing scenery can also help settle a busy mind or an anxious body, so thoughts and feelings surface more naturally as you go. This style seems to support people who are or suspect they are neurodivergent, struggle with anxiety or are dealing with high levels of stress.
Sessions follow your pace, you choose how far and how fast within our time limit, with no pressure to fill every silence. If walking doesn't suit you we can meet in a room or online.

Often this comes from patterns rooted in childhood or unresolved trauma, repeating without our realising it.
My Gestalt approach aims to raise your self-awareness and open up the possibility of change from wherever you are. Together we explore old patterns with compassionate curiosity, opening the door to more freedom from self-destructive behaviours and, over time, more room to be who you already are, underneath those patterns.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
