Maybe you are feeling sad, low in mood or get cross and irritable more quickly? Is it hard to put yourself first or just saying no? Do you feel less motivated or less enjoyment in life? Or have you noticed difficulties with sleeping? Perhaps you don’t feel the way you want. Or do you just feel ‘stuck’? These struggles could be getting in your way or affecting relationships with those closest to you. If so, these are things I can help you with.

I have lived experience of transgender identities, as my son is transgender. I have witnessed the high mental health conditions, suicidal ideation, including self-harm, and loss faced by LGBT+ individuals that I have counselled, along with the hurdles my son has encountered during his transition. I would like to walk with you along your pathway, and consider myself privileged to do so.

I use an integrative approach, drawing on CBT, ACT, and psychodynamic theory, and tailor therapy to your unique needs.
Are you feeling overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, or exhausted from trying to hold everything together? Maybe you're constantly overthinking, feeling low, or just not like yourself lately. You might be managing work, relationships, or daily life on the outside, but inside, something feels off. I help adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, and burnout create more space to breathe, reflect, and feel like themselves again. Whether you’re dealing with racing thoughts, low energy, emotional numbness, or simply the sense that you’re no longer coping in the way you used to, I can help.

My ideal clients feel like something is “off” in their relationship with food, even without a formal diagnosis — stuck in cycles of bingeing, restricting, guilt and shame. Many have ADHD or grew up with inconsistent, unpredictable caregiving, and food became the one thing that felt controllable or comforting. They’re tired of being told to “just have more willpower” and want to understand the pattern underneath. If that sounds like you, please know you’re not broken, and you don’t have to keep figuring this out alone — I’d love to hear your story.

Perhaps you have been given a diagnosis of a mental health condition, or you recognise that your mental health needs some care and attention. Either way, therapy could be beneficial for you. Whilst diagnosis can be helpful for some people, my approach to therapy is not led by your diagnosis, but instead by your lived experience, your goals for therapy and your preferences. Our work will be a partnership - I bring psychological expertise and skills, whilst you are the expert of your own experience. It is by working together that we can find a way forward for you.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Counsellors
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
