I also specialize in sleep-related issues such as insomnia.
Hi, thanks for stopping on my profile. It can be tricky to know which therapist to contact. The best therapist is the one who you feel most comfortable talking to. This is your life, your journey. Whatever it is that made you open this website, hurts. Talk to someone who empathises and can help you to improve how you feel about yourself.

My clients often describe feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or exhausted by trying to keep everything together. They may notice recurring patterns of overthinking, self-criticism, or burnout and want to break free from them. They’re looking for evidence-based therapy that’s practical and supportive — a space where they can make sense of what’s happening and learn new ways of coping. Their goal is to feel more confident, present, and in control of their emotions and choices.

Specialist Sleep Psychotherapist.
Cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) is the first line treatment recommended by the NHS and NICE. Treatment addresses the unhelpful behaviours and beliefs which perpetuate your difficulties with sleep. I then use EMDR if indicated to targets the accumulated memories associated with insomnia to reduce anxiety and dread around going to sleep.

CBTi is an evidence based brief and highly effective intervention for insomnia and its symptoms - anxiety, stress, depression.
I am a systemic psychotherapist and relationship coach specialising in RLT couples therapy. I work with couples who are stuck in patterns of conflict and disconnection and want to find ways to change them. No couple is the same, however it is common for couples to come to therapy when they may be considering separating, taking the next step in their relationship or repairing a significant rupture between them. Whatever the reason that may bring a couple to therapy, I work confidentially with you to explore your unique dynamics, the issues and contexts that underpin them and develop new ways of relating to yourself and your partner.

I work with people who feel overwhelmed with work, stress or anxiety. Perhaps they need to be always-on, high-performing, or perhaps they feel a sense of obligation to those around them, their community, or our planet. And I work with people who feel that their life is lacking - in joy, direction or love. Perhaps they feel unsure about the future, depressed or perhaps they are in a pattern of behaviour that no longer serves them. They could be bereaved. They could be processing something that happened.

Hi, I'm looking forward to hearing from you! I want to hear your concerns and support you to work towards the things that matter most in your life. I feel that therapy should happen in a friendly, nurturing space in which you feel safe and comfortable to bring anything you want to talk about and work on. I usually suggest exercises and other resources to complete in between sessions in order to keep the work progressing. As an Accredited EMDR Therapist as well as a clinical psychologist, I am able to use the therapy approach most appropriate for your concerns.

How effective is treatment for insomnia?

The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?

There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?

There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?

Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
