Hi, I'm a Clinical Psychologist specialised in helping people heal from experiences of trauma, difficult life events, and harmful relationships. These experiences can affect the way we think and feel, our self-esteem, our patterns of behaviour, and how we relate to ourselves and others. Therapy can help to make sense of and cope with the wide ranging impact on our lives. I am trained in several different therapies which I tend to integrate depending on your individual needs and hopes for the sessions. I have over ten years of experience working in mental health and currently work in a specialist NHS trauma service.

I offer a safe and non-judgemental space for you to explore difficult and even traumatic events in your life. A place to process sudden changes in your life, or a place to grieve. A place to discover the patterns that you might have developed over time as a way to try protect yourself, and a place that facilitates change to get you closer to your true self, where you will be able to find harmony between what you think, feel and do. A place to explore your feelings and find a way of being that works for you, which might help to relieve symptoms of depression, anxiety, and feelings of anger and fear.

It could be that you have experienced sexual assault, survived domestic abuse, have a new or evolving health diagnosis, experienced a bereavement, or have recognised that your childhood wasn’t like other people’s.
Our sessions can help you find the life you want in a space where you can feel seen and heard, and where you’re not alone. Maybe you can say things to me that you’ve never said to anyone else. It is possible to get your future back and I’ve seen it happen time and again.

Do you want to understand why you always act the way you do? Does it seem to you that your behavior follows repetitive patterns and you'd like to be able to change it, but you tend to always fall back into the same ruts? How about starting from the beginning and trying to understand what's going on?

It can be difficult to admit when things aren’t okay, especially when you’re used to carrying everything on your own. If you’re feeling lost, stuck, or disconnected, whether that’s from yourself, your relationships, or the world around you, please know that you don’t have to go through it alone. I offer a quiet, private space where we can meet virtually, once a week, to gently explore what’s going on for you. Whether you’re navigating trauma, grief, or any other emotional struggle, we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you. Together, we can choose to work for a set period of time or stay open-ended, depending on what you need.

Many of my clients may feel anxious, low, or disconnected, often carrying the impact of trauma, identity struggles, or cultural pressures. They want to feel more in control, better understood, and more connected to who they are. Many are seeking a space where they can reflect without judgment, understand themselves more deeply, and begin to shift patterns that no longer serve them. They may not have had the chance to explore these parts of themselves before — therapy becomes a space to reclaim voice, agency, and self-trust.

Counselling offers a unique opportunity to pay focused attention to anything that you might want to talk about. This happens in an environment that feels safe, trusting and free of judgement. By exploring your past experiences, we can make connections in relation to your present circumstances.

Our lives can sometimes feel overwhelming. Therapy is a time and a space to be heard, to build awareness, strength and spontaneity. The conversations between client and therapist are unique and precious. Beyond techniques, tools and training, research shows that a successful therapy tends to be based on a relationship, on trust, collaboration and true listening. As a psychotherapist, I am inviting you to explore your own story, in the presence of an attentive and reflective fellow traveller. I work both in English and in French, with clients from diverse countries, ethnicities and cultures.

Sexual Abuse Counsellors

How do therapists treat sexual abuse?

A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.

Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?

Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.

How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?

Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.

Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?

As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
