Perhaps you’ve felt stuck for a while, or have been feeling that something isn’t right but can’t quite identify what that is. You may be anxious, depressed, have low self-esteem. Maybe you are struggling in relationships, or finding it difficult getting your needs met? You may have often felt that you don’t belong, or that you’re not supposed to be doing the work you do. Perhaps you’d like to feel less frustrated, angry or alone? You may be experiencing grief, or struggling with addiction, you might have low libido, or want to explore your sexuality. It might be a family or historic issue you’d like to make sense of. I can help.

Welcome! I’m Noemie Redon, an experienced and qualified Art Psychotherapist working with adults, young people, and children from the age of 10. My sessions are non-judgmental, honest, and committed to help you understand what is going on for you as well as respecting your pace. The sessions can be only verbal and there is no need to be skilled at art. Sometimes, talking can feel too challenging, and working with creative resources can open new ways of expression. My approach is focused on working with feelings and felt senses in the body because emotions are a key indicator of what is really going on for you.

I work with many clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, emotional distress, relationship issues or experiencing low self esteem and a loss of confidence.
Either as an individual or as a partner in a relationship, we all go through times in our life where we may struggle. Whether your difficulties stem from things happening now, or from past experiences, I hope we can work together to help you understand yourself better and cope better with emotional demands. This could be through exploring patterns of behaviour, responses to emotional situations or ways of being in relationships. Perhaps you’re feeling anxious, upset, low or overwhelmed by negative feelings, struggling in your relationships or feeling stuck. Talking openly can be very powerful in easing and reduce troubling thoughts.

I do therapy in English and Spanish and work with different types of issues: relationships, self esteem, anxiety management or career development.
A therapeutic space can give us the understanding and confidence we need to make positive changes in our life. Expressing unspoken thoughts and feelings is an opportunity to heal, walk light and recover a feeling of direction. It gives us perspective and open our minds to explore healthier ways of relating to ourselves. My name is Alvaro, I'm a trauma informed Psychologist with more than 10 years of experience.

In an ideal world, we would feel unconditionally loved and accepted, free to be openly ourselves, able to develop and maintain meaningful relationships and eager to explore the world around us. The reality is that many of us have had challenging experiences in our lives and we carry inner hurts and wounds. You may be experiencing overwhelming anxiety and/or panic attacks. You may feel depressed, stressed, worthless or have suicidal thoughts. Feelings of anger, sadness, grief, tearfulness or loneliness may be unbearable, perhaps due to bereavement, trauma, abuse or family issues. Maybe you struggle with low self-esteem.

Many of my clients are the ones others turn to — driven, reliable, capable, and holding themselves to high standards. But beneath that, they feel overwhelmed, burnt out, and unsure how to feel enough. Maybe you tie your worth to being useful or productive, or you're wondering if your anxiety and burnout are linked to childhood patterns or undiagnosed ADHD. You might face impostor syndrome at work or feel stuck in relationship patterns where you give more than you get. You grew up fast, learned to over-function, and struggle with boundaries. You want to feel seen, grounded, validated, and live from self-worth, not self-doubt.

Self Esteem Counsellors

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
