Life itself is complex and through no fault of our own brings up many challenges that can lead to worry, anxiety, self-criticism, stress and low-esteem to name a few. As a clinical psychologist, I am flexible in my approach and work with a range of difficulties. I strongly believe therapy can be such a rewarding experience and the importance of creating a safe space in offering a non-judgemental and compassionate place for a person to feel heard and understood as we work together towards what is important to you. As such, issues relating to past or present, it is a space to create self-awareness and further move towards your values.

EMDR, attachment-focused EMDR, schema therapy, compassion focused therapy, CBT – I strive to offer a safe therapeutic space and relationship where you feel seen, heard and held, so you can heal from the past, improve current difficulties, and be empowered towards a life you want.
Are distressing past experiences affecting you and you can no longer ignore it? Have you ever had the chance to talk and process it, or tried and yet feel stuck so patterns repeat? Are things not changing no matter how hard you try? After 12 years in mental health care, working in NHS trauma and psychotherapy specialist services + private practice, I am a senior counselling psychologist specialising in trauma. I support people to rebuild after trauma and adversity, which can manifest as (complex) PTSD, emotional dysregulation, family and relational challenges, high levels of self-criticism and shame, and other challenges.

You might be living with PTSD or complex trauma and notice it showing up in ways that feel hard to control - flashbacks, shutting down, staying on edge, or getting pulled into the same patterns in relationships. Often you understand what’s happening, but your reactions still arrive quickly and feel bigger than the moment. What you want isn’t to stop having reactions altogether, but to understand why they keep showing up and to have more choice, rather than feeling driven by urgency, threat, or shame.

Waitlist for new clients
NB My practice is currently full. I will be accepting new clients from April. Do you find yourself caught in familiar patterns that leave you feeling unseen or overwhelmed? Maybe relationships feel confusing, or you end up caring for others so much that your own needs slip out of focus. You might sense old wounds being stirred and feel unsure how to navigate this alone. I work well with people who are curious about themselves and their relationships, especially when past trauma still shapes how they feel and respond. Our work will involve collaborating to create a contained space where we can make sense of these patterns together.

Hi! I’m Nuno, a CBT therapist who helps people struggling with low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, and trauma. My clients often feel stuck in self-doubt, sadness, or a constant inner critic. They want to feel more confident, more in control, and less overwhelmed by negative thoughts. Many come to therapy feeling hopeless or burned out, but ready for change. They want to reconnect with life, rediscover meaning, and build lasting emotional strength — even if they’re unsure where to start.

Are you feeling like you’re only just holding it all together on the outside but struggling underneath. If life feels overwhelming right now you deserve support that works for you. Maybe you constantly second guess yourself, feel pressure to get it right, worry about how others see you. Many of my clients describe feeling disconnected from themselves. Therapy is where we begin gently reconnecting. In our sessions we’ll work together to understand your patterns, calm your nervous system, and build new ways of relating to yourself – gently and at your pace.

I am still accepting new clients for a fee £65 per session, couples for £79 per session and I am offering phone and video sessions via Zoom, Google Meet, Skype, Facebook, WhatsApp. At the moment I am helping lots of clients with anxiety as well as self-esteem issues as that is something that lots of clients struggle with, however, the spectrum of the problems I work with is much broader.

Hello and Welcome, Life can indeed be difficult at times. Many are struggling with mental health in ways that are no longer manageable. Our past and present hurts, our unprocessed feelings can rise to the surface. We find ourselves thinking, feeling and acting in ways that do not reflect who we want to be. Some of us have Grief, Trauma or Addiction that we just can’t seem to work through. As a Senior Accredited Psychotherapist with a PHD(Hon), Master Degree and EMDR(Accredited), I've seen thousands come through my door, with various presenting issues and undergo genuine transformation, healing and leave with hope for the future.

Everyone deserves a space where they feel seen, heard, and safe. Many people come to me feeling disconnected from themselves, experiancing relational challenges or carrying the weight of anxiety, low mood, low self esteem, burnout, or childhood trauma that still shape their lives. If familiar patterns keep resurfacing and you’re ready to understand why, our sessions offer a calm, grounded space to explore your story, untangle overwhelming emotions, and understand how your past continues to influence your identity, choices, and wellbeing.

It is never too late to experience the childhood you didn't get, through care, safety, and self-compassion. And it is never too late to discover your true self, beyond survival, beyond roles, and beyond the past.

Schema Therapy Counsellors
How does schema therapy work?
Schema therapy is based on the idea that maladaptive thought patterns formed in childhood—that other people can never be relied on, for example—can interfere with healthy functioning in adulthood. Accordingly, schema therapy works by directly targeting such unhealthy schemas, identifying their consequences, and replacing them with more adaptive ways of thinking. To this end, schema therapists aim to “reparent” the client by offering what they didn’t get in childhood—validation, for instance, or compassion—to reorient their worldview.

Is schema therapy evidence-based?
Schema therapy is still considered relatively new, and research on its efficacy is still in progress. However, some studies have concluded that it can be effective at treating certain mental health conditions, most notably personality disorders such as borderline personality disorder. Evidence for its efficacy in treating conditions like depression, anxiety, PTSD, and OCD is promising but less conclusive, and experts warn that much of the existing research is of low quality.

Is schema therapy a type of CBT?
Schema therapy is based on many principles of CBT, most notably the process of recognising and challenging maladaptive thought patterns. But because schema therapy also draws from other approaches, including psychoanalysis and Gestalt therapy, it is not considered a form of CBT. It also typically delves deeper into the client’s childhood than does CBT.

How does schema therapy work?
Schema therapy does not call for a set number of sessions and is instead open-ended, with the treatment timeline depending on the client’s primary concern(s), progress, and preferences. Treatment that lasts between six months and two years is common, though many clients will start to see progress much earlier than that.
