Hi, my name is Simon and I work as a Psychotherapist in Private Practice in London. Clients who come to me for help usually have high levels of anxiety or depression and find themselves in repeating patterns within their relationships or at work that make them unhappy. I would offer you a safe, containing space where you could talk about and explore anything that’s difficult or overwhelming. We all have emotional needs and problems often arise when those needs are unmet. I would carefully explore which of your emotional needs were unmet during your childhood and possibly in your present life.

Psychotherapies move in and out of fashion as their claims and practises come in for reassessment and challenge. Psychoanalysis, the grandfather of all "talking cures", is no exception but it does seem as if, once again, it is having its moment as new studies and research offer evidence that it can provide for a change that endures. And it does so without providing the assurances of the quick-fix or the painless option but through a close and attentive listening and analysis of the nuances of your ties to others, the crucial relationships that might form (or undo) us.

If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, personality difficulties, or the effects of traumatic experiences, psychotherapy can help you better understand yourself, reduce emotional distress, and create lasting change. I provide a compassionate, evidence-informed approach using Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), a modern form of psychodynamic psychotherapy that helps people identify and work through unconscious emotional patterns that may be contributing to psychological difficulties. Many people carry unresolved emotional pain that can affect their relationships, confidence, work, and overall quality of life.

Past traumas haunts us, while the unpredictable future worries us - living in the present becomes increasingly more difficult. The constant that we can rely on is change. My aim is to help you take control of the change that you want to make, to claim the life you want for yourself, to find your meaning in your life, and live it as fully as possible. Many of the people I work with have spent years trying to understand why they continue to feel unsafe, fragmented, disconnected or stuck despite previous work and interventions. I aim to meet you exactly where you are at and together we can take the steps towards your goals and needs.

Currently, I work in a therapeutic community supporting people diagnosed with personality disorders, focusing on long-term relational work that helps individuals navigate emotional distress, build trust, and foster belonging.
You might struggle with intense emotions, identity, or relationships, often feeling misunderstood, overwhelmed, or stuck in painful patterns. You may have a history of emotional pain, trauma, or personality difficulties, and are seeking a deeper understanding of yourself. Your goal isn’t a quick fix but meaningful change through reflection, curiosity, connection, and self-awareness. You want to feel more grounded, belong, and relate more openly, and value the depth, integrity and authenticity that therapy offers. Whether in individual or group therapy, we will work together to explore your difficulties and support your growth.

Feeling heavy, stuck, overwhelmed, or seeking a deeper understanding of yourself? Perhaps you’re not sure what’s wrong, only that something doesn’t feel quite right? You might be unsure whether therapy is for you, or whether what you’re struggling with is “enough” to bring.

My aim is to increase psychological well-being and growth whilst teaching you the tools and techniques to better manage difficult feelings and experiences such as anxiety, depression, trauma, personality disorders, etc.
Making the decision to start therapy can feel daunting, but you don't have to navigate it alone. As a HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist, I provide a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where we can explore your emotions and experiences together. My approach focuses on understanding the 'here and now' while uncovering how childhood experiences may influence these current challenges. By making sense of these connections, we can identify new ways of thinking, behaving, and creating positive lasting changes.

You might feel stuck that nothing ever changes. Time continues to tick unrelentingly, your background shifts and changes, but you remain the same. You seem to repeat the same dynamics with colleagues, friends and loved ones. Isolated in who you don't want to be. Life repeats itself without you, and you know it could be different, but you don't become who you know you can be. You might experience anxieties that overwhelm and dominate. You might suffer from recurring depressions, sedating your will for life and drain any potential for joy. Together we can bring about that change.

Have you been entertaining the idea of therapy for some time, or is this an impulse search? Have you asked yourself questions such as: “Why me?”, “Who am I?”, “How did I get here?”, “Is this the rest of my life?”, "Is this really happening to me", "Why does this always happen to me?", “How do I get where I want to be?” Have you or others have labelled yourself as "down", "depressed", "anxious" or "stressed"? Are you worried about feeling a certain way, or not living the life you were meant to live? Do you carry on your shoulders more than you bargained for and feel you can't share with anyone? I am here for you.

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Psychological Society (BPS). I offer skilled, compassionate, evidence-based support to people who find themselves in distress or at a point in their lives when they would like to speak to a trained professional. Whilst I specialise in approaches that are interested in how our early experiences can shape and influence how we relate to ourselves and others, I draw on my knowledge and skills from different psychological therapies in an integrative way to ensure I tailor sessions to suit your needs.

I work with adults and adolescents who are, for a variety of reasons, dealing with discomfort throughout their daily lives. This can be internal (who am I? Am I enough? What am I here for?), external or, more often, a messy combination of the above. I work with people like you who are looking for a space to look at what works and doesn't in their lives, finding patterns and using insight to guide real, meaningful change. You might be coming to therapy to cope better, to examine your past experiences or to simply gain insight into yourself. It is what we make it. Outside of Private Practice I teach therapy at 2 training providers.

I provide an open, warm and confidential space which enables clients to explore issues, which may have been difficult to deal with alone. I view therapy as an individual process and a journey of self discovery that create an opportunity to become aware of inner conflicts and unhelpful patterns of behaviour. I recognise that there is not one approach to therapy that will suit everyone. Hence, I incorporate integrative approach that means I can adapt therapy to each client and their individual needs. I can offer help and have worked with people struggling with a range of conditions including depression, anxiety or adjustment.

Offering adults therapy and psychological assessment in the centre of London and online. I think that every person’s therapy journey is different. Some people need skills and coping techniques to help deal with things in their current context. For others it is important to address the underlying psychological mechanisms that give rise to the problems or symptoms at different points in life. For some it is important to address childhood origins of problems so that they can break free of repeating, destructive life patterns. I want to help people find the journey that is right for them.

Personality Disorders Counsellors
What are the common treatment options for personality disorders?
Personality disorders are typically treated with psychotherapy, sometimes in conjunction with medication. Therapy can help people with personality disorders develop skills to tolerate difficult emotions, navigate interpersonal relationships, and solidify their sense of self. Medications can treat symptoms that co-occur with the disorder, such as depression, anger, aggression, and impulsivity.

When to seek treatment for personality disorders?
Even though treatment for personality disorders can be an uphill battle, it’s best to seek help if you suspect that you or a loved one is struggling with one, because personality disorders can create substantial problems in life. Symptoms depend on the specific disorder, but overall signs of personality disorders include consistent difficulty maintaining close relationships, dramatic variations in self-esteem, and an unstable sense of identity.

How long does therapy take for personality disorders?
The timeline for treating personality disorders isn’t as clear-cut as it is for other disorders. Change can be difficult, taking from around one year to five, 10, or more. The key is finding a therapist who has extensive experience treating the relevant disorder. For example, a psychologist who specialises in narcissistic personality disorder has specific communication strategies that allow them to sustain the relationship and be more effective with narcissistic patients.

Can therapy help people with personality disorders?
Research suggests that for those who are motivated to address concerns or interpersonal conflict related to a personality disorder, therapy is far more effective than no treatment, and that most people in therapy see improvements. However, since personality disorders involve entrenched elements of identity, they are less responsive to treatment than are other mental health conditions. Finding an expert who has extensive experience working with a given personality disorder is one factor that increases the likelihood of successful treatment.
