I work with couples and individuals in person, and via Zoom/Skype. I have specialist training in couples therapy. All couples come together with high hopes. And a satisfying relationship is key to happiness. Yet all relationships do face challenges. For example, has communication broken down or stopped? Do conversations turn into arguments? Are you feeling unheard, unwanted and alone? Or are you feeling boxed-in and overwhelmed? Are there trust issues? Has someone had an affair? Is there conflict around your sex-life, fertility issues,
parenting
etc? Whatever your situation, your relationship is important to you, and deserves help.

When we experience loss things can become overwhelming and having someone who will hold the emotions that feel too much for others can be crucial for moving through the process of grief. If you are struggling with

parent
or carer who has concerns about the emotional wellbeing of your child or your adolescent, email me so I can call you back as soon as I can for a free consultation to discuss how we can move forward as early intervention is crucial.
As a Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist, I was trained to carefully observe children and young people and respond to what they are consciously and unconsciously communicating through their behaviour, verbally and non-verbally, through unstructured play, their silence, and other ways to communicate their emotional difficulties or distress. I have several years working in the NHS in CAMHS, and with charity organizations, providing evidence-based therapy and individual & group interventions for children and adolescents and supporting the networks involved in their care so that they can build resilience, flourish and live fuller lives.

People seek therapy for different reasons, life issues, trauma due to mental or physical events, loss of a loved one, or a breakdown of a relationship. Choosing therapy can be a route to discover better ways of managing moments of anxiety or depression. As well as working with individuals, I am experienced at working with couples who are struggling to stay together or trying to part amicably. I also work with couples and individuals who experience issues on becoming parents (fertility/adoption) or with those who find it difficult to make the decision to
parent
because of their own past experiences.

Parenting Counsellors
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.
When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioural problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.
How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilised, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioural therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realised.
Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
