I am a dedicated mental health professional with a background in psychology and clinical neuropsychiatry, specialising in brain injury and neurodiversity. With extensive training as a therapist, including a valuable placement within the NHS, I now adopt a solution-focused approach to my practice. I have seen how this approach enables clients to make rapid progress, creating a strong foundation for lasting change that can be as short as six weeks.

I work in 3 main ways: 1. Gently: I can help you begin a journey of understanding yourself and introduce you to therapy tools and get you back to feeling like you again. 2. We delve deeper, I can help you heal from a broken relationship either recent or long ago that is holding you back. You must be ready to do this deep work as you will release a lot of stored emotion. 3. I also work with young people (14-17yrs) helping them understand their emotions and teaching them tools and tricks to manage life. You choose which level you want to work at, but our discussions are wrapped with warmth, fun and need to know truths.

The clients that I work with want to learn how to manage their anxiety and excessive stress whilst also learning how to develop a deeper sense of confidence within themselves. Clients often come to me with specific goals in mind such as being able to finally achieve some long held confidence goals that they have in mind, or finally be able to tackle their social anxiety so they can start to take a proactive approach towards dating.

Hello and Welcome, Life can indeed be difficult at times. Many are struggling with mental health in ways that are no longer manageable. Our past and present hurts, our unprocessed feelings can rise to the surface. We find ourselves thinking, feeling and acting in ways that do not reflect who we want to be. Some of us have Grief, Trauma or Addiction that we just can’t seem to work through. As a Senior Accredited Psychotherapist with a PHD(Hon), Master Degree and EMDR(Accredited), I've seen thousands come through my door, with various presenting issues and undergo genuine transformation, healing and leave with hope for the future.

Welcome. It can feel difficult to start with counselling, so let me start by saying the work we do will be guided by your own choices and needs. You can express these in a confidential space of emotional safety and we can explore what is happening for you, better understand it and heal. As a qualified life coach I can also build on the therapeutic work to help you define and move towards your goals at a pace that suits and feels safe to you. I work with all aspects of identity in an inclusive non judgemental practice.

I offer neurofeedback because of the incredible link between our bodies and emotions.
Website: rhodascantleburycounselling.co.uk Counselling gives you your own time and space to consider what is going on, who you are and who you want to be. The possibility of time and space might feel important because you're currently experiencing something where your own resources no longer feel sufficient to cope. Perhaps you see that you're responding to situations with more anxiety, anger or distress than feels entirely manageable, or it may be that you're feeling very little and have a sense of being out of touch with yourself or others. I'm able to support you in several ways:

Life can feel overwhelming when you are anxious, low, stuck, or exhausted from keeping it together. You may be living with Bipolar, ADHD, EUPD or depression, or navigating neurodivergence and masking. Past trauma might show up in your body and relationships, through shutdown, hypervigilance, shame or anger. You may also be questioning cultural identity, heritage, and belonging. You want steadier emotions, clearer direction, and relationships that feel safer. I offer a warm, trauma informed space, with attention to body and mind, to build self compassion, resilience, and practical tools for change, to feel more like yourself again.

How does neurofeedback work?

Neurofeedback is a type of biofeedback, meaning it provides real-time information about one’s physiological functions—in this case, brain activity. As they receive this feedback, clients are guided by a computer program, typically via visual or auditory cues, which aims to modify the brain patterns associated with their negative symptoms. Over time, proponents argue, clients learn how to better regulate their own brain function and improve the symptoms that cause problems in day-to-day life.

How effective is neurofeedback?

Some research has found that neurofeedback can help treat conditions like ADHD, and anecdotal evidence suggests that many people who undergo neurofeedback find it beneficial. However, some experts have expressed skepticism, arguing that the evidence in favor of neurofeedback is thin or may be due to the placebo effect. While the procedure is generally seen as safe and has few side effects, it is not typically considered a first-line therapy and is instead often recommended as an adjunct treatment.

What are the limitations of neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback is generally considered safe and most patients report manageable side effects, or none at all. However, the research on neurofeedback remains inconclusive, and some experts are skeptical that it’s as effective as its proponents claim. It can also be costly and may not be covered by insurance; thus, it’s important to confirm cost and insurance coverage before initiating a neurofeedback program.

How long does neurofeedback last?

A typical neurofeedback session lasts between 30 and 60 minutes. There is no set number of sessions needed for a course of neurofeedback. Before initiating a neurofeedback regimen, clients are advised to discuss the treatment timeline with their provider, as well as when they might expect to see results.
