Neurodivergent Counselling in London
I work regularly with queer and neurodivergent folk but extend my practice to all.
My name is Oli (they/them) and I am a relational therapist. I believe that change happens not only through insight and understanding, but through connection and being met with honesty, care and presence. Sometimes, the difficulties we have out in the world also show up in therapy which gives us a chance to understand them in a way that hasn’t felt possible yet. This means that the relationship we build is an important part of the therapeutic process. Some sessions might feel reflective and spacious, others more active or focused. We’ll find a way of working that feels right for you.

We’ll build emotional intelligence, confidence, and practical tools to navigate life with more clarity and simplicity.

My counselling training and experience include work with anxiety, neurodiversity, loss, identity, life transitions, self-worth, and the impact of difficult or unsafe relationships.
Therapy is an invitation to speak: not just about what might be troubling or worrying you, but more generally, about the experiences, relationships, questions, and those parts of life that really matter to you.
Before training as a counsellor, I worked for some years as a lawyer. That experience has brought me into contact with pressure, complexity, and the ways in which people carry professional, personal, and cultural expectations. It continues to shape my interest in identity, belonging, transition, and the cost of having to be high functioning, even when it might feel otherwise within.

We don't lose ourselves all at once. We become who we need to be over time- to preserve relationships, belong or simply survive. Years later, we find ourselves anxious, disconnected, struggling with intimacy, repeating the same relationship patterns or no longer recognising ourselves. I believe these are intelligent adaptations, not personal flaws. Therapy isn't about becoming someone new. It's about understanding what you've had to leave behind- and creating relationships where you no longer have to abandon yourself.

Do people think you're fine, but inside, things feel turbulent? Maybe you're overthinking, unsure about decisions, struggling to enjoy life, or are just not where you thought you'd be. Perhaps you're people-pleasing, repeating patterns, or suspect your relationships could be more fulfilling. You need a space that's just for you, so you can pause, re-evaluate, identify "stuck" points, and find new ways to handle things.
Many of my clients struggle with relationships, family issues, life transitions, self-doubt, decisions, and feeling generally unhappy. This can show up as anxiety, depression, destructive behaviour, or feeling "off".

I offer face to face, one to one, EMDR for trauma and CBT for OCD, anxiety and depression.
I've found that EMDR works better face to face, so I offer it in on Friday mornings in central London therapy rooms easily accessible by public transport.
I've found that CBT seems to work just as well online or in person, so I offer both options, with online sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings

I offer a grounding, non-judgemental and consistent space where we can explore experiences, emotions and parts of yourself that may feel too painful or difficult to share elsewhere. Through a collaborative process, we work together to deepen your understanding of who you are and how your experiences have shaped you. I believe our struggles do not appear in isolation; they are often rooted in the relationships, experiences and circumstances we have lived through. Through a trusting therapeutic relationship, we can begin to make sense of your experiences together and identify what you might need to move forward.

I am an integrative counsellor, grounded in psychodynamic and person centered approaches with a particular awareness of and sensitivity to neurodivergence.

Together, we may explore how past experiences, including childhood shape your present, while focusing on your current concerns and future goals.
I am experienced working with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression (childhood & adult), family dynamics, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, abuse (verbal, sexual, emotional, physical), low mood, loss, self-harm, suicidal thoughts and bereavement.

I see clients for a variety of past and presenting issues ranging from depression, anxiety, autism (diagnosed or suspected), co-existing mental health diagnoses, relationships, identity crises, as well as cultural or spiritual conflicts. Clients often come at a stage of life where they feel stuck or are suffering and would like therapy to help them move on. I work with clients on what their presenting issues are and how their past as well as current thoughts, feelings, actions or behaviors (scripts) may have caused or continue to keep them stuck in familiar patterns, from a place of understanding and compassion towards themselves.

I am a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist in Highgate, North London, working with children, teens and families where school anxiety, EBSA, neurodivergence, autistic burnout, fatigue, chronic illness overlap and have become difficult to manage.
Therapy is not about suggesting difficulties or symptoms are "all in the mind". It can help young people and families understand how the body, emotions, stress, fear and avoidance interact, and work towards pain management, pacing, resilience and confidence. Where helpful, I use a joined-up approach with your medical team or GP.

I have particular experience in working with neurodiversity (autism, dyslexia, ODD) and continue training in the area as well as building on my background in art to offer creative approaches to therapy with a person-centered core.
My clients have a variety of issues. I encourage my clients to have a sense of curiosity about themselves and their process in our work together. Throughout therapy, I seek to meet such needs as genuine understanding and acceptance as well as the provision of a space of safety when clients may be experiencing a life situation or condition that feels unsafe. If you are seeking a therapist with shared lives experience, I can offer personal insights to clients who are seeking counselling for immune illnesses / bowel disease-related depression and anxiety.

Much of my work centres on high-functioning professionals and young adults who may look composed externally but may be carrying complex inner tensions involving chronic self-doubt, internalised shame, emotional distress, or the effects of developmental trauma. I also work with those exploring sexuality, gender roles, and belonging within conservative, cross-cultural, or religious contexts, where parts of the self may have felt difficult to name or unsafe to hold. My approach is relational, collaborative, and deeply compassionate, and may gently incorporate somatic work to support careful processing of trauma stored in the body.

I truly believe we all hold the power to heal.
I practice a ‘whole person’ healing approach that includes your emotional, physical and energetic process ( mind -body- soul). By combining psychotherapy with science and mindfulness, you will gain clearer insight and learn techniques to improve your overall well-being and quality of life.
It's not easy to face life's challenges that have caused pain and distress. If you're feeling overwhelmed, confused, or stuck and not able to move forward...
You don't have to keep struggling alone.

I enjoy working with individuals, couples and family estrangements, particularly with relationship and communication breakdowns. I also have clients who identify as dual heritage and wish to explore 'who am I?' in their cultural context to address any relationship breakdown. I also support clients who have been traumatised and for those who are happy to engage, set personal development homework, so clients can witness their own progress. And as a Christian therapist, who is guided by the teachings of the Bible, I enjoy working ethiclly and opening, treating all clients with compassion, kindness and care.

I welcome neurodivergent clients and can also offer therapy from a Christian perspective, for those for whom faith is part of how they understand themselves and the world.
You might look like you’re coping on the outside but feel quietly unsure underneath. A feeling you can’t quite name, patterns you keep finding yourself in, or ongoing anxiety and pressure. You may overthink, be self-critical, hold things in, and put others’ needs before your own. You may carry experiences from earlier life or difficult periods that don’t feel big enough to name, but still affect you day to day. Perhaps there’s a quiet sense that you’re not okay, but not sure you have the right to say so, or you’re adjusting to loss or change that still feels present. Or no clear crisis—just a wish to understand yourself more deeply.

FAQ - About Neurdivergent Therapy
What does neurodivergent mean?
Neurodivergent is a broad term used to describe people whose brains process, learn, or respond to information in ways that differ from what is considered “typical.” Neurodivergence can include autism, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), dyslexia, Tourette syndrome, and other forms of neurological difference. The term comes from the idea of neurodiversity, which recognises that differences in brain function are a natural part of human variation. Rather than viewing neurodivergence only through the lens of neurological disorders, this perspective acknowledges that neurodivergent people may experience both strengths and challenges. For example, a person may be very creative and intelligent, while also needing support with sensory sensitivity or learning differences.
What issues do neurodivergent people commonly bring to therapy?
Neurodivergent people often seek therapy for many of the same reasons as anyone else, including anxiety, depression, stress, relationship concerns, or major life transitions. They may also want support with challenges specifically related to neurodivergence; for example, therapy may help with executive functioning, social communication, sensory sensitivity, school/learning stress, or the experience of feeling misunderstood in society. Therapists can also help individuals and families diagnose conditions, as well as distinguish regular challenges associated with childhood and/or adolescence from more enduring conditions. When needed, a therapist may also provide referrals to additional specialists, such as occupational therapists or psychiatrists who can prescribe psychiatric medication.
What therapeutic approaches work well for neurodivergent clients?
Therapy for neurodivergent clients is often most helpful when it is flexible and affirming. Rather than expecting every client to fit one standard model of therapy, neurodivergent-affirming therapists may adapt sessions to each person’s needs and therapy goals. Often, this includes visual aids, movement breaks, or other therapy supports. Common structured therapeutic approaches like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) can be useful for some neurodivergent clients, but the approach may need to be modified to avoid feeling overly rigid or focused on changing traits that are part of a person’s natural neurodivergence. Other approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness-based approaches, may also be helpful depending on the client’s needs.
Who is included in Psychology Today's directory of neurodivergent therapists?
Psychology Today’s directory of neurodivergent therapists includes professionals who self-identify as neurodivergent, as well as therapists who describe their work as neurodivergent-affirming or who specialise in areas such as ADHD, autism, learning differences, or sensory processing concerns. When reviewing a therapist’s profile, look at their bio, listed specialties, treatment approach, and experience working with neurodivergent clients. You may also want to consider whether they offer supports that matter to you, such as online therapy, accessible office space, or familiarity with specific concerns like anxiety, depression, or trauma.
