A therapeutic space can give us the understanding and confidence we need to make positive changes in our life. Expressing unspoken thoughts and silenced feelings is an opportunity to heal, walk light and recover a feeling of direction. It gives us perspective and open our minds to explore healthier ways of relating to ourselves. I´ve got more than 10 years of experience working with clients as a Psychologist. My approach is holistic and integrative and I have a University Master degree in Coaching and Systemic Psychology.

Managing a career or running a successful business can be both rewarding and challenging at the same time. You set the goals, you are smashing through them and yet there seems to be something missing with each achievement. In addition, there are people looking up to you, family depending on you, life’s demands and you can’t afford to take your eye off any of the balls. It is a constant juggling act. There is so much at stake and ‘failure’ is not an option. Someone always wants something. There is a constant need for more. No one seems to understand what it is like keeping all these balls in the air.

Hello and Welcome, Life has indeed become complex. Many of us are now struggling with our mental health in ways that are no longer manageable. Our past and present hurts, our unprocessed feelings have risen to the surface. We find ourselves thinking, feeling and acting in ways that do not reflect who we want to be. Some of us have Grief, Trauma or Addiction that we just can’t seem to work through. As a Senior Accredited Psychotherapist with a Master Degree and EMDR Accredited, I've seen thousands come through my door, with various presenting issues and undergo genuine transformation, healing and leave with hope for the future.

I work well with men and women who are lonely, depressed and feel isolated. People who have suffered some form of trauma in their lives. People who have had to be overly independent from a very early age and who have trouble maintaining trust in personal relationships including those with family members, spouses, partners, friends and work colleagues. I have good success in helping people actualize: good self-esteem; fulfilling relationships and creative self-expression. I work with private individuals, couples and families.

We believe that everyone is unique and therefore is dealt with in a way that best caters to his or her individual needs. We work with you by exploring your world to see how you engage with your life and the people around you. Along the journey, we will explore your past, look at your present and see how you perceive the future. We will help you become more aware of your values, beliefs and limitations and help you connect and improve your relationship with yourself. This process may be challenging, yet extremely rewarding as we access the changes you want to make towards living the life that you want to live.

I focus on helping clients become empowered through self-awareness. Sometimes we need assistance to discover hidden parts of ourselves. We may want guidance to work out the underlying causes of the issues we are struggling with and to understand the meaning we give to our life events. I will assist you in exploring the motives behind behaviours, unhelpful thought patterns, and overwhelming feelings. Who would you be without the thoughts that upset you? Who would you be if you could feel free from the emotions and situations that weigh you down?

‘We all need someone to talk to some of the time’ and across the multi-dimensional layers of personality and global connectedness, to be human means we will be faced with situations and events during our lifetime that we believe a hundred percent, we will have little or no chance of sorting out or finding solutions to. The truism is there are always solutions, some more easily achievable and likeable, others less so. Nonetheless these too are solutions and place ALL at the doorway of all possibility. The wisdom then is to stand in the doorway to commence the healing transformations of finding answers and pathways towards resolution.

Neuro-Linguistic (NLP) Counsellors

How does neuro-linguistic programming work?

A therapist using NLP might start by building a strong rapport and gathering information about the client’s objectives and any problem areas. Then the NLP therapist will employ NLP techniques to guide their client toward healthier thoughts and behaviours. Clients will learn how to better manage their moods and hone their communication skills. NLP will conclude with the therapist and client making a plan for how to integrate the positive changes into their daily life in the future.

What are some techniques used in neuro-linguistic programming?

NLP therapists often employ anchoring, so the client begins to automatically associate their trigger with a healthier response. Clients also learn how to reframe a situation to change the way they react to it for the better, and how to replace the negative beliefs that are holding them back. Many NLP clients practice visualisation or forming a mental image of themselves attaining their goals. Every NLP therapist will have their own preferred approach with specific techniques that they have found to be helpful for their clients.

How long does neuro-linguistic programming take?

Since neuro-linguistic programming is not regulated, the length of treatment can vary greatly. Some therapists may only use NLP in a single session, while others may employ it over the course of weeks, months, or even years. It depends greatly on the type and severity of the problem being treated, as well as the individual client’s response to NLP treatment.

Is neuro-linguistic programming evidence-based?

While some people may find neuro-linguistic programming helpful, either in therapy or in their career or personal development, the science behind this approach is inconclusive. Most of the available studies are small in scale and have produced mixed results, and the commercial nature of NLP lends itself to conflicts of interest. More research is needed. In the meantime, practitioners must use their best judgment of whether NLP techniques will be helpful in meeting their clients’ individual needs.
