As an integrative therapist, I might draw from a wide variety techniques including mindfulness, CBT, art therapy, trauma-informed models, IFS and enneagram-based insight.
Counselling and psychotherapy offers a unique space to explore any of a wide range of factors that might be causing you to feel anxious, depressed, angry, confused, lonely or stuck. In working through these experiences together, you can gain insight into the factors which cause you distress, develop new strategies to cope, find new energy and motivation in the face of challenges, and become more grounded in making choices which are right for you.

My approach with internal family systems therapy also allows me to go quickly to the areas that are concerning you.
I offer help to people who worry or fear that they won't be understood or that they will be judged by others. Whoever you are, whatever the issue is, I'd like to be able to offer a space for you to be heard and accepted. I can offer a private and safe space simply to be without a mask if that's what you need, or if you have a clear idea of what you want to achieve I'd like to help make that happen. I can work in either a very loose or a structured and outcome-focused way, whichever appeals to you more. But however we decide to work, my focus is always what you want, what you need, what you dream of that you would like to make real.

As an IFS therapist, I offer a safe space to help you to understand challenges and where the emotional pain comes from. I focus therapy on working with core wounds. Core wounds are the reason why you might experience fear & anxiety. They can be a source of feelings of shame & abandonment which often lead to confusion, conflicts & feelings of “unsafety”, especially in meaningful relationships. Further causing destructive behavior toward yourself/others or your body. In our work together, we will use the pain as a guide and catalyst for healing, self-discovery, and self-realization. Ultimately leading to a fulfilling and joyful life.

I am also trained in Internal Family Systems , EMDR, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and Hakomi.
I am passionate about supporting you to live fully within the wisdom of your body. I support those who have experienced a disconnection to their body due to sexual trauma, relational abuse, an eating disorder/disordered eating, and reproductive health trauma. I assist clients in their process of coming home to their body through a multidisciplinary and personalized approach that relies on depth psychology, relational somatics, intersectional feminism, and mindfulness. I acknowledge that the relationship women have to their body is complex; my education honours that complexity.

Finding the right therapist for you is as much about their style and personality as their qualifications. On becoming a therapist I thought a lot about what qualities have been important to me as a client in therapy: warmth, approachability, open-mindedness and the ability to laugh with me, when appropriate, all scored highly. So I endeavour to bring these qualities to my own practice. I work integratively, which means I can draw from different theories to suit each individual client’s needs. I am particularly influenced by attachment theory, IFS and relational/compassion/mindfulness based ways of working.

I work with CBT, Schema Therapy, IFS , and trauma-informed therapy.
I am a highly specialized psychotherapist in trauma and complex trauma (accidents, abuse, recovering from a difficult childhood and difficult parents), and high anxiety (panic attacks, social anxiety, attachment issues and relationship anxiety). People who had difficult experiences might suffer from high levels of anxiety and feel down. You might find yourself struggling in your relationships or at work. When something goes wrong, you start overthinking and take full responsibility. You are wondering why your self-esteem is low. Some people might also delevop unhealty habits or struggle with lack of healthy ones. Therapy can help.

The main features of these include Narrative Therapy, Solutions-Focussed Therapy, and working with Internal Family Systems .
I work with Millennial adults 1-1 and with couples, who are experiencing challenges in life transitions, their mental health, and relationships. It can be that all of these affect one another; therapy is a safe and non-judgemental space to explore these, with the aim of coming to a fuller sense of understanding, renewed perspective, with clarity and healing along the way.

Although I have had training in various modalities and I like to integrate them all, I prefer to use the principles of Internal Family Systems Therapy, which I view as the most effective and the most compassionate way of understanding ourselves, integrating the various aspects of our psyche and healing.
I believe that we have the inner capacity to heal. The first step is to understand our life story – how the past might be affecting us today, why we behave, think, and feel in the way we do, to gain self-awareness, and to understand what emotions and feelings are still unresolved in our internal system. The next step is to resolve & heal that which needs resolving & healing – whether it is depression, anxiety, low self-worth, panic attacks, traumatic life events, attachment injuries, relationship issues, suicidal ideation, as well as existential or spiritual matters.

My wish for my clients is that they find the inner freedom to live the life that they want. I mostly work with expats, travelers, digital nomads, burners - I can relate to the lifestyle and can appreciate the need for flexibility and rescheduling sessions when necessary, however, anyone is welcome.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Counsellors

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
