Although most people turn to therapy due to significant turning points like loss or bereavement, betrayal , conflict or a perceived defeat, others recognise their need to begin psychotherapeutic treatment due to feeling bewildered, unable to deal with unexpected low mood or experiencing anxiety. Most notice changes in their behaviours, including more frequent arguments, increased avoidance of tasks or proximity to others, or sudden inability to control their routine and schedule. No matter how you encounter change, ego therapy offers a bespoke approach to supporting your emotional development and personal transformation.

I work with people across the lifespan from many backgrounds and with a range of issues including: anxiety, depression, relationship issues (including affairs , separation and divorce), work-related stress, low self-esteem and trauma to name a few.
Before clients begin therapy they are usually on the edge where they have tried to cope on their own for a sustained period, however this has no longer become effective. I can provide you with a discreet, comfortable and confidential space to support you through these challenging times which are hard to manage on your own. Discretion and a non-judgemental attitude are the key qualities I hold and what keeps my clients coming back to see me each week. I aim to provide a safe and engaging space to support my clients in moving forward. Therapy can be helpful for i) those wanting to understand the causes and the maintenance of their problems ii) thinking about where you are in your life and how you wish to move forward iii) exploring relationships iiii) managing general life stressors. On a personal note, I was born in the UK and have lived in Singapore and Hong Kong. I come from a culturally rich and diverse background which enables me to appreciate the uniqueness of each individual I see. I therefore work with people in the context and development of their own lives.

I am experienced in working with issues of self-esteem, depression, anxiety, PTSD, infidelity , communication, domestic violence, LGBTQ+, gender issues and suicidal thoughts.
Being stuck in a pattern of relating to the self or others that is not serving us any longer is a common human experience. My approach is integrative mainly psychodynamic, meaning I work with a person's defences and resistance in a gentle but challenging way, examining early childhood experiences and relationships. I create a safe non-judgemental space for frank, open and intimate discussions about your issues and struggles.

Common problems include infidelity , difficulties in co-parenting, ill health and life cycle changes.
I work intergratively and collaboratively, that is to say I draw on different psychological therapies, including CBT, Narrative and Attachment ideas and techniques, depending on the challenges and stories brought into the therapy room by the client(s). I work within an overarching Systemic framework which pays special attention to supporting individuals, couples and families to find the strengths of their relationships so as to make disturbing symptoms less problematic. It is not just about problems however, Systemic therapy is  built on a bedrock of hope, focusing on resilience and resourcefulness.

Infidelity Counsellors

How does therapy for infidelity work?

A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.

How long does therapy for infidelity take?

Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.

How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?

When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.

How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?

Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
