Health-on-Line Counselling in London
I’m curious about people, the things we feel and the connections we make, on our own, with others, in communities, and with our environments. How we get stuck sometimes, how we learn to survive and how we thrive and grow. I’m interested in the mind-body connection, processes of transformation, wild therapy and exploring queer family building.
I have experience with, and am passionate about working with GSRD (Gender sexuality and relationally diverse) folks and the LGBTIQA+ community. I believe in creating therapy spaces for queer and trans people where they are met in a place of understanding and support.

Starting therapy can feel daunting, and I understand what a brave step it is to begin this process. I aim to create a safe, non-judgemental space where we can explore what’s bringing you to therapy, including any feelings ‘stuck-ness’ or overwhelm that you may be experiencing.
We’ll work together to set meaningful therapy goals, and I’ll regularly check-in with you throughout the process to ensure the therapy is helpful and aligned with your needs.

At the centre of my practice is the importance of humans and other beings. The role I want to play in psychology is to promote social connectedness, positive emotions and meaning in all members of the community, not just those with mental illness. During our lives we are on journey of learning, at times what we experience does not match what we pictured life would be like, this creates conflict within many of us, and we become afraid. When we become afraid we stray from what can be a happier life. But step by step, we can overcome our fears with clarity of mind.

Are you living with higher levels of anxiety than those around you would’ve guessed? Pouring over moves you make, wishing you said or did things differently? Are you worrying at nighttime, despite all your best efforts not to? When our internal alarm system gets activated and the button to turn it off seems to have gone missing, it has a way of taking over every area of our life. I'm guessing that if you're reading this you've probably tried many ways to control the way you're feeling. It can be a frustrating experience not to gain control over it, perhaps especially so, if you’re used to succeed in other areas of your life.

For me, therapy works best when it feels like a real human relationship – professional, boundaried, & psychologically informed, but also warm & collaborative. My first priority is to help you feel safe enough to be honest (including about the parts you don’t usually say out loud).
We’ll go at a pace that’s manageable & make sense of what’s going on together rather than me “doing therapy to you.” I’ll bring compassion & steadiness, but I’m also not afraid to be direct when something matters in a way that’s respectful. The aim is always to help you understand yourself better & leave sessions with something useful to take into life.

Hi, I’m Ilan! I’m a Clinical Psychologist and Director of The Oak Tree Practice. I want to tell you a bit more about myself, as I realise selecting a psychologist can be a tough task! I feel very privileged to be able to say I love what I do and always have, ever since I started volunteering for ChildLine in 2007. Following this, I’ve had experience working with a wide variety of clients including children, young people, adults, older adults, military personnel, individuals with learning disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders and neurological conditions. I have also furthered my studies through the completion of undergraduate, masters and doctoral degrees. All this aside, one of the most important parts of my work is building relationships with those sitting opposite me. I have always believed that you can have all the training and knowledge in the world, but if the client doesn’t return, none of this can be put into action. Therefore, my first aim is always to provide a warm, compassionate and non-judgmental space where we can work on the clients’ difficulties together.

Starting therapy can sometimes be a daunting experience. Our first session will be an opportunity for us to get to know each other. You can consider whether I am the right fit for you, and we can explore your goals and motivations for therapy, creating a collaborative plan for potentially working together. With lots of space for any questions you may have! I hold a strong desire to create space for individuals to share their voices, to feel seen and to be heard. Alongside my professional knowledge, I hope to draw from my personal journey to inspire warmth, authenticity, and connection within the therapeutic relationship we build.
