I work with addictions to Gambling, Drugs and Alcohol.
Every addiction has a cause or a barrier to recovery. It’s not an incurable disease. We will find out where your addictive behaviour comes from and we’ll build a plan to end it. Rehab, residential and 12-step programmes fail 85% of people suffering addiction in the first year. My approach is tracking at over 75% effective

Since obtaining my degree in Psychology in 2016, I have worked with families and people across the life span, with different levels of privilege and discrimination and with a range of mental health difficulties, spanning from anxiety and depression to more enduring presentations (e.g., psychosis) and addiction (e.g., substance use, gambling).
I now work as a Clinical Psychologist in two specialist services: an NHS service for expectant and new parents and children’s social services, where I support young people (16-25) leaving the care system. In my different professional roles, I appreciate how our early history and circumstances shape our relational patterns and how we see the world.

I bring experience from my earlier work with gambling addictions and general counselling, which deepened my understanding of how our behaviours, bodies, and emotions are often closely linked.
Many people struggle in silence with sexual concerns - whether it's loss of desire, difficulties with arousal or orgasm, painful sex, sexual compulsivity, or shame around sexuality. These challenges can feel isolating, but you don’t have to navigate them alone. I work collaboratively and sensitively to help you understand what's going on beneath the surface and to move towards greater connection, confidence, and pleasure in your intimate life.

Are you feeling that things around you are too much or that suddenly you cannot cope with life as you used to? Do you find yourself stuck or in the same situation over and over? I know the feeling of being paralized. I personally find it very difficult to ask for help when I'm in a bad place, and to show my vulnerability to others... I don't want to feel judged and I'd like to be encouraged to try and be myself and to talk freely about everything and anything. For me it's vital that my counsellor is really invested in helping me. I invite you to take that difficult first step and let me be part of your journey to get there

My clients often describe feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or exhausted by trying to keep everything together. They may notice recurring patterns of overthinking, self-criticism, or burnout and want to break free from them. They’re looking for evidence-based therapy that’s practical and supportive — a space where they can make sense of what’s happening and learn new ways of coping. Their goal is to feel more confident, present, and in control of their emotions and choices.

How do gambling rehabilitation programs work?
There are both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs. However, for some individuals, an outpatient facility may not offer enough hands-on care, and for other individuals, an inpatient facility may be too much. Both types of care have knowledgeable health professionals including physicians (in the case of residential programs), psychologists, counselors, psychotherapists, and recovered mentors.

How do gambling 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Abstinence and maintenance are key for 12-step gambling disorder programs. Individuals in a 12-step group rely on each other for support and accountability. In addition, there is often a spiritual element to these programs, whereby belief in a higher power can help the individual overcome their tendencies. If an individual genuinely wants to cease gambling, attending a 12-step program along with regular psychotherapy can be highly effective.

How long does therapy take for gambling disorder?
Recovering from gambling disorder takes time and effort. There’s no precise timeline for treatment, but a person can see change if they stick with therapy and if they have the will and desire to stop. Treatment for gambling disorder requires honesty in therapy, a commitment to understanding triggers, as well as the development of coping skills. Making lifestyle changes is also important, such as staying away from lotteries, online gambling, and casinos.

Is relapse a problem for those with a gambling disorder?
Gambling disorder is often chronic and can be life-long; therefore relapse may present a problem for some individuals. But effective treatment can bring a person’s life under control. To remain healthy and on track, the individual may need to regularly check in with their support group or psychotherapist. Frequently refreshing their tools of recovery can be helpful.
