Life can be overwhelming: loneliness, divorce, grief, parenting or work challenges, even natural transitions can feel isolating and daunting to navigate alone. I offer a safe, confidential space to identify and work through what is troubling you. You can expect to explore unresolved issues and gain greater understanding of yourself and your patterns of relating. I am interested in the roles we take within families, couples and work. Prior to re-training, I had a career in law and finance, so am familiar with high-pressure environments, stress and the search for a healthy life balance.

My qualifications are as follows: PgDip Psychosexual Therapy - PgDip Psychodynamic Theory & Practice - BSc (HONS) Psychology - EMDR.
Love is complex. We can all encounter relational or intimacy struggles as we try to find our place in the world romantically or sexually. Becoming comfortable with who we are or with others can be challenging. Modern ideas on love include the freedom to choose the kind of relationship that works best for us. Contemporary relationships defy conventions, and in today’s world, where diversity intersects with all aspects of life, understanding love requires a deep dive into the societal, neurobiological, and the emotional landscapes that shape it.

Registered EMDR UK/EU psycotherapist (Adult, young people and children).
Although my speciality is trauma, I’ve found EMDR to be just as effective for anxiety, low mood, stress, and a general sense of being stuck. It can gently shift patterns that feel deeply rooted—helping you move forward with more freedom, confidence, and self-awareness.

Alternatively, I can offer EMDR, which is a treatment for trauma and other experiences from the recent or distant past which have adversely affected you.
I can help you to gain clarity about yourself, your situation and the patterns in your relationships. I work psychodynamically so I will be interested in your past and how it is being lived out today. We can think about the way you have learned to protect yourself with your own individual defences and we can consider how helpful to you these currently are.

I work with evidence-based therapeutic models, including CBT, ACT and EMDR.
You may be struggling with a clearly defined issue or general 'stuckness in life'. Maybe you need to understand what it is. You may have experienced it for long or a new difficulty intruding in your life. Possibly something you are keeping from others or maybe someone has suggested you seek help for it. It may affect only you or your relationship with loved ones. Maybe you are seeking help with a couple issue you've tried to work on with your partner. You may feel hopeless, having tried everything to solve it. In any case, therapy can be used to make sense of the situation and think of a strategy to move forward towards your goals.

As a CBT and EMDR therapist, we can work with either approach or more integratively.
I’m a senior therapist with a specialist focus on anxiety and trauma-related difficulties. With over 10 years of experience working in both the NHS and private practice, I’ve supported clients through a wide range of trauma and anxiety-based issues. If you find yourself worrying and feeling unable to cope, not good enough, unworthy or unlovable, you are not alone. If you feel stuck and overwhelmed, disconnected or unheard, you are not alone. I support clients in moving from a place of anxiety and overthinking to a place of calm and confidence, from a place of shame and self-criticism to a place of self-acceptance and kindness.

Life at times can be challenging, people can often feel isolated and stuck in their struggles, confused about what to do to change the things in life that are troubling them. Reaching out can be hard, trusting others can feel even more difficult. It's at these times that therapy can make a difference. I am a sex-positive, kink-knowledgeable psychotherapist and am familiar working with a range of relationship models and gender dynamics. I work with people from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds, including individuals from straight, queer, poly and kink communities, sex workers, and people who identify across the gender spectrum.

Alongside talking therapy, I offer EMDR to support the processing of difficult or stuck experiences.
You are not broken. You adapted. This space is for people who live outside the lines: queer, neurodivergent, kinky, polyamorous, disabled, immigrants, and anyone who learned to shrink, comply, or disappear to survive. Many of my clients carry shame that was never theirs, grief that did not begin with them, and exhaustion from constant self-monitoring and hypervigilance. In therapy with me, you do not need to justify who you are, educate me, or perform insight. Your identity is not the problem. Your coping makes sense. This is a space to take up room, reclaim boundaries, and speak your truth.

I trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitation Reprogramming) which is a trauma focused therapy and that has now become my main practice.
People can come to therapy for all sorts of reasons: they might be struggling at work or feeling dissatisfied in a relationship or coming to terms with a traumatic childhood. They might need a different approach depending on their goals - so a more structured, goal based intervention might be suitable for someone who wants to be more effective in the workplace. The person affected by a traumatic past might want to develop a stronger abiity to self-soothe - this could be through guided imagery, relaxation, breathing or just through experiencing the therapeutic relationship as safe and accepting.

Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimising its ability to trigger anxiety.
