I work with burnout and sustained overwork, anxiety, confidence and self-doubt in roles others assume you find comfortable, perfectionism, isolation in senior positions, career transition and exit, bereavement, and low mood that sits alongside outward functioning.
I work with founders, executives, senior leaders and professionals in roles that carry real responsibility. Most are capable people, well regarded in their work, who carry the internal experience of that pressure quietly. Some arrive with something specific in mind. Others arrive because thinking has become harder than it should be, and that is as far as the description goes for now. Both are a reasonable place to begin. What tends to help is somewhere the whole of it can be said aloud, at your own pace, to someone with time for it.

I work with people navigating burnout, relationship difficulties, and life changes.
I work with people who feel overwhelmed, anxious, burnt out or are looking for better clarity or cohesion in life. You may be functioning well on the outside but quietly struggling underneath, or you may be dealing with the effects of ongoing pressure from work, relationships, or life circumstances. There may also be challenges in relationships with others or yourself, or a sense of not quite knowing why certain patterns repeat. I help you to slow down, feel secure, get curious about what's really going on, and build a trusting relationship in the room that becomes a foundation for change.

But something isn't working underneath — in your relationships, in the moments you're alone, in the burnout that won't lift, or in the same patterns you keep finding yourself caught in, no matter what you try.
My experience working for over a decade inside hedge funds and consultancies means I understand the culture and pressures of these environments from the inside. As a therapist, I'm interested not just in helping you manage the immediate problem, but in understanding what sits underneath it — patterns in self-worth, relationships and achievement.

These might include panic, anxiety, burnout, depression, loss, destructive habits, relational breakdowns, or a sense of spiritual emptiness.
Based in Holloway, my practice blends transpersonal psychotherapy with somatic movement therapy, to bridge the gap between words, feelings and expression. We can work holistically, without any pressure to express in any particular way. Rather, by attending to what the body carries, we can acknowledge how distress manifests physically as well as emotionally.

These repeating thoughts and behaviours, often showing up as burnout, high pressure, workplace anxiety, or unhealthy relationship dynamics, can leave you feeling trapped and unable to move forward.
Rooted in clinical experience with the NHS and Mind, I bring a personal understanding of the high-pressure corporate world and its impact on mental health. I work psychodynamically and relationally, meaning we will explore how your past experiences and early relationship patterns shape how you relate to your life, relationships and/or your career today.

Hello, I'm Eleanor, a BACP-registered psychotherapeutic counsellor. Feeling lost, stuck, disconnected from yourself, or struggling with low self-esteem can be incredibly difficult. You may be finding it hard to cope with low mood, the impact of past experiences, or a persistent sense that you've lost touch with who you are. Therapy can offer a supportive, non-judgemental space to explore these experiences, deepen your understanding of yourself, and reconnect with parts of yourself that may feel forgotten or out of reach.

I work with anxiety and panic, depression, stress and burnout, trauma, and difficult life transitions.
You came in uncertain, maybe a little sceptical. You weren't sure therapy could help. But you did the work, and something shifted. Not magic, not overnight, but real change you still feel today. I keep therapy as short as I can, so you can carry on with tools that last. If you are ready for the turning point, open the door. The focus is you.

Perhaps nothing is obviously wrong, but the way you've been coping no longer works. You may be exhausted from holding things together, stuck in the same relationship patterns, or unsure who you are beneath other people's expectations. I work with adults and couples who want not only relief, but a deeper understanding of the patterns shaping how they live and relate, so they can develop more choice in how they respond.

I help people experiencing anxiety, burnout, people-pleasing, perfectionism, low self-worth, or those feeling disconnected from themselves.
Many of the people I work with feel they've lost touch with who they are. They've spent much of their lives living in the 'shoulds' - people-pleasing, striving for perfection, masking who they are, or trying to meet others' expectations or their own high standards, until they've lost sight of what they genuinely think, feel and need. Perhaps you're feeling anxious, burnt out, overwhelmed, stuck in self-doubt, struggling in your relationships, or simply wondering why, despite doing all the right things, life doesn't feel as fulfilling as you hoped.

You wouldn’t ignore a toothache. So why do we ignore emotional pain? We don’t wait until our teeth are falling out before we look after them. Yet when it comes to our mental health, many of us have been conditioned to do the opposite — suppress difficult feelings, keep going, stay strong and only ask for help when things become overwhelming. And the truth is, anxiety, overwhelm, low self-worth and emotional distress are incredibly common. Recent UK research found that 73% of adults had experienced anxiety at least sometimes in the previous two weeks, with one in five experiencing it most or all of the time.

FAQ - About Therapy for Burnout
What are the signs that I might be experiencing burnout?
Common signs of burnout include feeling emotionally drained, detached, irritable, unmotivated, or more negative than usual. You may also experience increased self-doubt or difficulty concentrating in areas of life that once felt more meaningful. In addition to these emotional signs, burnout can have physical signs like fatigue, headaches, and changes in sleep or appetite. Over time, burnout may affect your relationships, work performance, and daily responsibilities.

Can burnout lead to more serious mental health conditions?
While burnout is not the same as a mental health diagnosis, it can overlap with or contribute to mental health concerns like anxiety or depression. The emotional exhaustion and hopelessness that one may feel because of burnout can make it harder to function in one’s everyday life and prevent early intervention. In extreme cases, burnout may lead to thoughts of self-harm or suicide, in which case, it is critical to seek emergency support immediately. It can also be difficult to tell the difference between burnout and other mental health conditions. For example, burnout-related low motivation may look similar to symptoms of depression. A therapist can help you better understand what you are experiencing and determine whether burnout, anxiety, depression, or another concern may be involved.

How can therapy help with burnout?
Therapy can help you identify burnout, understand what may be contributing to it, and develop a path to recovery. A therapist may help you look at patterns in your life that could be contributing to burnout, such as difficulty setting boundaries, perfectionism, caregiving demands, work pressure, or feeling unable to rest without guilt. Therapy can also help you build coping skills and make changes. Depending on your situation, this may include learning stress management strategies, improving sleep routines, setting healthier boundaries, or exploring whether larger changes are needed. A therapist can also provide accountability and support as you begin making changes, especially if burnout has been building for a long time.

What therapeutic approaches are most used for burnout?
Some common therapeutic approaches used for burnout include mindfulness-based therapies, such as Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and yoga. In addition, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) can help you identify thought patterns that may contribute to burnout, such as perfectionism and all-or-nothing thinking. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is another type of therapy that focuses on clarifying your values, which may be helpful for those who feel they have lost sight of their values during a period of burnout.

How long does recovery from burnout take?
The time it takes to recover from burnout depends on how long the burnout has been present, how intense the burnout has been, and what kinds of support are available. In general, shorter-term burnout can often be resolved in 4 to 8 weeks with rest and lifestyle interventions like therapy, whereas longer-term burnout can take 6 months to over a year to heal from. Recovery is often slower when the source of burnout cannot easily be changed, such as a stressful job or unsupportive environment. In these cases, therapy may focus both on coping skills and on identifying what is within your control.
